A seal for bearings such as a bearing bushing of a universal joint having inner and outer members with confronting spaced raceways. The seal includes at least one circumferentially extending sealing lip which engages a surface of one of the members outboard of the raceway and includes stiffening or rigidifying ribs which prevents inversion of the seal upon assembling.

An axial deep groove ball bearing is disclosed. This rolling bearing has a housing ring with a fastening rim located axially beyond the outer face of the housing ring. A ring of synthetic material or rubber is located between the fastening rim and a housing.

Sealing device for a thrust bearing has a pair of bearing disks, including a pair of sealing collars (4, 5, 33, 34), and one of the collars being permanently seated on one of the bearing disks and the other collar being free to rotate on the other disk. The sealing collars (4, 5, 33, 34) are provided with integral sealing lips (29), which rest preferably against the facing end surfaces (30, 30a) of the bearing disks (1, 2).

A cage for a ball bearing, especially for an inclined ball bearing, is comprised of two side rings connected together by webs, with one of the side rings being outside of the pitch circle and the other side ring being inside of the pitch circle. Circumferentially resilient axially extending projections are provided extending from one of the side rings toward the other, radially inwardly or outwardly of the pitch circle, and recesses are formed by the webs and projections in the regions of minimum spacing between the balls.

A sealed rolling bearing in which the seal consists of a sealing lip and a sealing projection connected to a sealing body. When the sealing body is seated in a groove formed in the outer ring, the sealing lip abuts a side surface of a groove formed in the inner ring with prestress. The sealing lip and sealing projection abut under the influence of the prestress to form a conical, outwardly directed centrifugal surface for ejecting moisture and dirt through a gap seal formed between the sealing projection and a shoulder of the bearing inner ring.

A cage for a ball bearing is formed by a series of side rings connected in a circular arrangement by crosspieces. The crosspieces have surfaces formed thereon for defining cage pockets in which balls are inserted and held. Each side ring is thin-walled, whereas the crosspieces are relatively thick, so that the cage is elastic. The walls of each cage pocket comprise four circular cylindrical surfaces, an opposing pair of which are integrally connected to converging conical surfaces formed on the projections. The projections may extend either radially inwardly or radially outwardly from the crosspieces or both. The balls of the bearing are held in the pockets by the converging conical surfaces.

A cage for ball bearings consists of two side rings connected together by webs, and having ball pockets with ball pockets having curved partial surfaces inside and outside of the pitch circle and displaced from one another in the axial direction. In this arrangement the rubbing between the walls of the cage pockets and the balls is very small and free space is provided for receiving a lubricant. The pocket walls of the cage sections lying in the region of one or the other of the side rings has several radially-overlying zones, with conical surfaces, the conical surfaces being arranged at different inclinations to the bearing axis.

In a rolling bearing for longitudinal movement with respect to a shaft, the rolling elements have longitudinal cross sections with concave central sections adapted to engage a cylindrical machine element, and shaped ends adapted to roll on a support surface of the machine element. The bearing includes a shell structure for guiding the rolling elements to follow continuous pathways. Each pair of adjacent rolling elements are separated from contact with one another by a separating roller having a convex longitudinal cross section which engages the concave portions of the rolling elements with line contact.

A cage for a rolling bearing has spreadable holding projections defining pockets for receiving rolling elements. In order to inhibit separation of the rolling elements from the cage after insertion of the rolling elements between the holding projections, the cage has deformable or spreadable cage portions positioned to be spreadable or deformed after insertion of the rolling elements in the cage, for supporting the adjacent holding projections against movement away from the adjacent rolling elements.

In a clutch release device, a clutch release lever engages one ring of a clutch release bearing, and the bearing ring and release lever are formed to inhibit relative rotation therebetween. For this purpose, the bearing ring may have a polygonal outer surface, in which case the release lever may have parallel flanges between which opposite parallel surfaces of the polygonal section of the bearing ring may be inserted. Alternatively, the release lever may have a wedge shaped portion adapted to engage a braking surface of the bearing ring, formed of a plastic material. In a further modification, the bearing rings have grooves or corrugations in a radially extending surface and adapted to be engaged by one or more projections on the clutch release lever.

A conveyor belt roll assembly comprising a roll casing, a roll end mounted at opposite axial ends of the roll casing and a rolling bearing with a first bearing ring supported in the roll end and a second bearing ring secured in an axial direction by means of a ring member connected to the shaft. The roll end has a radially outwardly directed flange with corrugations at its outer edge extending in a peripheral direction and the ring member axially securing the bearing on the shaft is arranged outside of the bearing. The conveyor belt roll assembly further includes a radially outwardly directed disc fastened to the shaft and forming a radial sealing slot with the axial outer face of the roll end.

Ball bearing assembly for rotatably supporting a belt support roll on an axle comprising a pair of bearing rings having confronting spaced apart sections defining inner and outer raceways disposed at an angle to the normal axis for a plurality of balls. The inner bearing ring has a radial outwardly directed flange serving as means to secure the bearing to the roll casing and a flange extending radially inwardly from the race confronting a sleeve mounted on the axle. The outer bearing ring has an annular ring flange facing inwardly to the bearing axle confronting the radial flange of the inner bearing ring and terminating in an annular shoulder running axially for fastening to the axle. A sleeve circumscribes the axle and has a radially outwardly directed rib which forms with the inner bearing ring an annular chamber for a sealing agent. A seal with flocked fibers is interposed between the confronting inner flanges of the inner and outer bearing rings.

In a rolling bearing for linear movement with respect to a shaft, the bearing has a sleeve, and axially extending guide rails on the inner and outer surfaces of the sleeve. Rolling elements are guided by the guide rails, and have concave spool-like central portions matched to the shaft, to provide linear contact therewith. The ends of the rolling elements are convexly curved to match the curvature of the inner surface of the sleeve, so that the inner surface of the sleeve forms a raceway for rolling elements under load. Grooves are provided in the lateral surfaces of the guide rails for guiding balls disposed between the ends of adjacent rolling elements. End caps on the bearing have turn-around guides for directing rolling elements between the inner raceways and the raceways for unloaded rolling elements along the outer surfaces of the sleeve.

A clutch thrust bearing has thin-walled bearing members formed to define a race therebetween for receiving rolling bearing elements. One of the bearing members has a generally radially extending central wall portion, and an axially extending annular wall portion, the center portion defining one wall of the race and the axially extending portion extending away from the other bearing member. The one bearing member further includes a second thin-walled portion on the side of the bearing away from the other member, and axially spaced from the center wall portion of the same member. This thin-walled portion has a central depression for receiving thrust loads on the bearing, and the outer walls of this portion extend axially and are telescoped with the first mentioned axially extending wall. An elastic member is provided between the two center portions of the one member, and may be in the form of a split ring or an elastic material.

A clutch release device for use with a thrust bearing has a sliding sleeve formed as a cylinder with a flange extending radially outward, and a transition shoulder between the cylinder and flange; a radially extending reference plane extends through said shoulder, and said flange has portions thereof displaced axially, with said reference plane being equidistant from said flange and said displaced portions.
