A deformation device, especially for the steering column of a motor vehicle. The deformation device comprises a deformation tube (), which can be deformed in a defined manner, as well as a deforming cone () associated with the deformation tube (). The deformation device has at the deforming cone () at least one elevation () or recess, whose edges () engage edges () of at least one impression () or recess (), whose shape corresponds to the elevation of the cone or the recess of the cone at the cone-side end of the deformation tube (), in a positive (material blocking) manner, as a result of which essentially any desired high torque can be transmitted between the deformation tube () and the deforming cone () without any change in the good behavior in a collision. The design of deformation devices, especially for steering lines of motor vehicles, can be substantially simplified and despite the improvement in product quality that is made possible, considerable cost savings are achieved in the manufacture of steering line components for motor vehicles.

Deformation device for a steering column

A process is disclosed for fixing a motor vehicle steering column. The, motor vehicle steering column is adjustable in the axial and/or vertical direction and has a steering shaft and a housing accommodating the steering shaft, on a bracket of the steering column of the motor vehicle, which bracket is a rigid part of the body. In the case of an accident, a positive-locking connection is established by pyrotechnical device between the adjustable steering column housing and the bracket of the steering column, at the moment of the impact of the motor vehicle against an obstacle. A device for carrying about the above-mentioned process is disclosed, in which at least one pyrotechnical module and at least one element, which can be controlled by the pyrotechnical module, are present for the positive-locking connection between the steering column and the bracket, which is a rigid part of the body.

Method for fixing an adjustable automobile steering column and device for carrying out the method

A telescopic steering column for motor vehicles which contains a guide in the intermediate steering shaft to compensate the nonuniformity of the rotary movement. The guide rotates the two shaft parts of the intermediate steering shaft, which are axially displaceable in one another, so that the fork position of the joints changes with the set position of the steering column.
