A light scanning system includes a transmitter configured to transmit a transmit light beam along a transmission path; a microelectromechanical system (MEMS) mirror arranged on the transmission path and configured to oscillate about a first scanning axis to steer the transmit light beam in a first dimension; a macro scanner arranged on the transmission path and on a receiver path, the macro scanner configured to rotate about a second scanning axis to steer the transmit light beam in a second dimension, where the macro scanner is further configured to receive a receive light beam that is produced from the transmit light beam via backscattering, and where the macro scanner is configured to direct the receive light beam further along the receiver path; and a photodetector configured to receive the receive light beam from the macro scanner and generate a measurement signal representative of the receive light beam.

The present invention relates to a laser scanner, comprising a housing, a laser transmitter including a transmission aperture for a transmission beam, a laser receiver for a reception beam, and a beam deflection device in the form of a mirror pyramid, the pyramid axis of which forms its axis of rotation, and the pyramid sides of which each form a mirror facet The laser transmitter and the laser receiver are each directed at the mirror pyramid parallel to the axis of rotation of the mirror pyramid. The laser receiver comprises at least one converging lens arranged downstream of the mirror pyramid in the reception beam path. The converging lens, viewed in the direction of the axis of rotation, in its region of overlap with the mirror facets, is at least as large, in area comparison, as twice the largest of all mirror facets viewed in the direction of the axis of rotation.

Laser scanner

An optical device for detecting a light beam reflected by a remote target comprises a light source, which is designed to emit the light beam in a predetermined direction at the remote target, and a primary lens, which is designed to focus the light beam reflected by the remote target into a first focal point. The optical device further comprises a relay lens system, which is arranged in such a way that the first focal point is located between the primary lens and the relay lens system and which is designed to focus the light beam reflected by the remote target and diverging starting from the first onto a second focal point. A detector unit is essentially arranged in the second focal point. A diaphragm is arranged within a cross-section, which is normal to the optical axis, of the light beam reflected by the remote target between the first focal point and the relay lens system.

A scanning apparatus for use in a scanning optical system comprises a laser transmitter to produce a transmitter beam. This transmitter beam is deviated by a beam scanner, e.g. a tiltable mirror, to produce a pattern of a scanning beam. There are bearings which define first and second axes of rotation perpendicular to each other and intersecting each other in an intersecting point for allowing the beam scanner to scan. In front of the beam scanner is a window of transparent material in the shape of a spherical cap so as to define a central axis and a central point. The central axis intersects the intersecting point of the two other axes, and this common intersecting point coincides preferably with the central point of the sphere of the window.

Scanning apparatus

A system for recording an object space has a opto-electronic distance sensor which uses a signal propagation time method, and a transmitter for transmitting optical, signals, as well as a receiver (E) for receiving optical signals, reflected by objects located in the target space. The system comprises a scanner for deflecting optical axes of the transmitter and receiver (S and E). The optical axes of the transmitter and receiver (S and E) for example, are substantially parallel. An evaluation system determines distance values from the propagation time or phase position of the transmittal optical signals, and the space coordinates of the individual data elements result from the distance values and the beam deflection implemented by the scanner. The system comprises a rotary measurement head mounted on a pillow block, and a mirror system fixed relative to the measurement head, which deflects beams axially incident on the hollow shaft in the radial direction and vice versa. The radiation from stationary transmitter (S) can be introduced in the axial direction relative to the hollow shaft and can be transmitted in the radial direction through the mirror system. The radiation reflected by the targets located in the object space, can be deflected by the mirror system in the direction of the axis of the hollow shaft and be supplied to the receiver (E), which is also stationary.

System for recording an object space

The present invention is directed to a system and method for taking up an object space using a laser range finder and a scanning device for scanning the object space. Furthermore, there is a passive opto-electronic receiver having an associated scanning device. The scanning device(s) scans the object space for the range finder and the passive receiver synchronously and in phase. To each image element, a spatial angle is assigned for identification. The passive receiver, comprises an array of transducer, elements where the image angle of an individual element of the array corresponds preferably to the beam angle of the laser beam. A memory includes one cell per image element so that with each distance measurement the individual elements of the array can be read and their signals stored in the cells of the memory. With each distance measurement the assignment of the elements of the array to the cells of the memory is shifted by one so that the cell which had received the signals of a certain image element receives them anew and the signals received from different spatial angles add up in the cells during subsequent measurements.

Apparatus for taking up an object space

A process and an apparatus for measuring an object space using an opto-electronic range finder which operates according to a method of determining the time-of-flight of a signal comprise a first measuring step including transmitting optical transmitter signals in form of a beam of a predetermined first divergence angle, receiving optical signals reflected from an object and evaluating a distance value, while scanning the object space. After or before this first take-up step follows a second one wherein reference marks in the object space are taken up with a using an enlarged divergence angle so as to detect reliably the reference marks. The apparatus comprises, accordingly, appropriate devices for varying the divergence angle.
