A method and system of establishing a wireless network for audio data transmission with a first and second audio devices having first and second transceivers, the first audio device being an audio signal transmission unit with a user operable switch, and the first and second audio devices being assistive listening devices. Periodically the second transceiver listens for pairing information, at at least one public frequency channel; operating the switch by the user to initiate pairing at any time during operation of the first audio device; the first transceiver transmitting pairing information at said at least one public frequency channel upon operation of the switch. The second audio device automatically pairs to the first audio device upon reception of pairing information from the first transceiver. The first and second transceivers are controlled so that reception of the pairing information from the first audio device is accepted by the second audio device.

Pairing method for establishing a wireless audio network

Monitoring usage of a hearing device includes: c) checking whether a message has been received within a time period (dt) shorter than a pre-defined time period (Dt) via a long-distance communication network in a remote device; and d) generating usage status data dependent on the result of the checking addressed in step c). The usage status data are indicative of the usage of the hearing device, indicating 'use' if the time period (dt) is smaller than or equal to the pre-defined time period (Dt) and indicating 'non-use' if the time period (dt) is larger than the pre-defined time period (Dt). The message includes identification data for identifying the hearing device or a user of said hearing device. The remote device is located remote from the hearing device and connected to the long-distance communication network. The time period (dt) starts from a start event.

Method for monitoring usage of a hearing device

A hearing assistance system and method for wireless RF audio signal transmission from at least one audio signal source to ear level receivers, wherein a close-to-natural hearing impression is to be achieved. At least one parameter of the RF signal as received from a transmission unit at a respective receiver unit to create left ear RF signal measurement data and right ear RF signal measurement data, respectively. The angular localization of each transmission unit is obtained by comparing, for each transmission unit, the left ear RF signal measurement data and the right ear RF signal measurement data. The audio signals are processed and distributed according to the estimated angular localization of each transmission unit in a manner so that the angular localization impression of the audio signals from each transmission unit as perceived by the user corresponds to the estimated angular localization of the respective transmission unit.

Hearing assistance system and method

A method for testing a hearing device () comprising at least one microphone unit () and a receiver unit () is disclosed. The method comprising the steps of positioning the hearing device () at a predefined position in relation to an accessory device () comprising a microphone () and a loudspeaker (), generating a first sound signal () by the loudspeaker (), recording the first sound signal () by the microphone unit (), generating a second sound signal () by the receiver unit (), the second sound signal () being at least partly dependent on the recorded first sound signal (), recording the second sound signal () by the microphone (), evaluating the recorded second sound signal (), and at least triggering further action based on results of evaluating the recorded second sound signal () in case the results do not conform to predefined expectation. Furthermore, an arrangement for testing a hearing device () is also disclosed.

Method for testing a hearing device as well as an arrangement for testing a hearing device

A system for providing hearing assistance to at least one user, having: at least one audio signal source () for providing audio signals; a transmission unit () for wireless transmission of audio signals; at least one receiver unit () for wireless reception of audio signals from the transmission unit; a device () for stimulating the hearing of the user according to audio signals supplied from the at least one receiver unit. The transmission unit has both an analog transmitter () for applying an analog modulation scheme and a digital transmitter () for applying a digital modulation scheme in order to transmit the audio signals from the audio signal source () simultaneously via an analog audio link () and a digital audio link ().

A transmission system and a method for controlling the transmission system comprising at least one interface unit and at least one adjustable device are disclosed. The method includes configuring the at least one interface unit according to interface configuration parameters, and enabling the at least one interface unit according to the interface configuration parameters. The method can also include transmitting device configuration parameters from the at least one interface unit to at least one of the adjustable devices, configuring the at least one adjustable device according to the device configuration parameters, and enabling the at least one adjustable device according to the device configuration parameters in order to transmit data via the second link.

A system for picking-up a user's voice, having an earpiece () that has a shell () and is to be worn at least partly in the user's ear canal (), an elongate C-shaped bow-like retention element () attached to the shell for retaining the shell within the user's ear () and an ear microphone () oriented acoustically inwardly towards the user's ear canal for picking-up the user's voice. The material and the dimensions of the retention element are selected such that the retention element can be brought into engagement with the user's concha () by manual plastic deformation by the user.

A method for providing hearing assistance to a user, comprising capturing audio signals by a microphone arrangement; measuring at least one mechanical parameter; selecting an audio signal processing scheme according to the measured at least one mechanical parameter; processing, by a signal processing unit, the captured audio signals according to the selected audio signal processing scheme; transmitting the processed audio signals to stimulating means worn at or in at least one of the user's ears via a wireless audio link; and stimulating the user's hearing by said stimulating means according to the processed audio signals.

Method and system for wireless hearing assistance

A method for providing hearing assistance to a user, comprising capturing audio signals by an internal microphone arrangement and supplying the captured audio signals a central signal processing unit; estimating whether a certain type of external audio signal supply device is connected to the audio signal processing unit in order to supply external audio signals to the central signal processing unit, and selecting an audio signal processing scheme according to the estimated type of external audio signal supply device; processing, the captured audio signals and the external audio signals according to the selected audio signal processing scheme; transmitting the processed audio signals to stimulating means worn at or in at least one of the user's ears via a wireless audio link; and stimulating the user's hearing by said stimulating means according to the processed audio signals.

A communication system having at least one user worn receiver unit for receiving audio signals via a wireless audio link connected to a stimulating means for stimulating the user's hearing according to audio signals received via the audio link; and a plurality of user worn transmission units and a microphone arrangement for capturing audio signals from the respective user's voice, an audio signal transmission portion for establishing the wireless audio link to at least one receiver unit to transmit the captured audio signals to the at least one receiver unit, an assistive digital link transceiver portion for establishing a bidirectional assistive digital link to at least one of the other transmission units and/or to an external command unit, and a control unit for controlling signal transmission of the transmission unit according to data exchanged with the control unit of the at least one of the other transmission units and/or the external command unit.

Wireless communication system

A receiver device for receiving audio signals from a remote source has a magnetic loop antenna for receiving radio frequency signals carrying audio signals, a signal processing unit for reproducing audio signals from the radio frequency signals received by the antenna, an output interface which is capable of being mechanically connected to an input interface of a hearing instrument to be worn at a user's ear in order to supply the audio signals from the signal processing unit as input to the hearing instrument, and a housing enclosing the antenna and the signal processing unit. The antenna is designed as a printed board circuit with a loop-shaped conductor on an at least partially flexible insulating substrate. A first portion defines a first plane and a second portion defines a second plane, the first plane and second planes being oriented at an angle of 60&#xb0; to 120&#xb0; relative to each other.

Wireless audio signal receiver device for a hearing instrument
