A device and a method for using overcapacities in the power grid is provided. In case of an oversupply of energy, the energy is transferred to a thermal storage device directly via a heating element and in the discharge case of the thermal storage device the heat is removed from the thermal storage device and made available to a thermodynamic cycle whereby electrical energy is produced. The heat from the thermal storage device is used to preheat air in an air feed line to a combustion chamber, or fuel is pre-heated using heat from the thermal storage device.

A device for increasing service life of a combustion installation is disclosed. The combustion installation has a gas-conducting component and a conducted gas has dirt particles. The gas-conducting component has a layer which is partially detached together with the dirt particles of the gas when the layer is impinged with the gas and when a dirt particle is deposited on the layer.

A superconductor structure is disclosed, comprising a composite body made of an electrically insulating substrate to which an intermediate layer is bonded, a buffer layer is deposited on the intermediate layer and a layer of a metal-oxide high T superconductor material is deposited on the buffer layer. The intermediate layer comprises a glass material with a coefficient of thermal expansion greater than 6&times;10 K . To produce the structure, at least one deposition process is selected in which the maximum temperature is at most 150 K higher than the transformation temperature of the glass material.
