A description is given of a radio frequency module comprising an interface unit configured to receive macros having a first format from an input of the radio frequency module, a microprocessor coupled to the interface unit and operable to convert the macros having the first format to macros having a second format, a first memory coupled to the microprocessor and operable to store macros having the second format provided by the microprocessor and a first finite state machine implemented in hardware and configured to process macros having the second format accessed from the first memory.

In a transmission path, an input signal is amplified in a manner dependent on a digital control word present and is processed by an arrangement for signal processing to form an output signal. A digital setting word is read out from a memory device in a manner dependent on the digital control word, setting signals being derived from said setting word. The gain setting of the amplifier and the operating mode of the arrangement for signal processing are influenced by the setting signals.

Transmission path and method for signal processing in a transmission path

In a transmission path having two discrete-value adjustable amplifiers, a first amplifier is set with a first gain factor and a second amplifier is set with a second gain factor. A signal is then applied to an input of the transmission path, and a level of a first output signal of the transmission path is ascertained and the second gain factor is altered. The first gain factor is changed in the opposite direction, so that a total gain factor of the transmission path remains substantially the same. The level of an output signal from the transmission path is then ascertained again with the new settings. An offset value is determined by comparing the levels of the first and second signals. As a result, the second amplifier can be calibrated using relative measurements and the first amplifier.

An amplifier arrangement and a method for compensating for an offset in an amplifier is provided. A respective switch for connecting together the inputs in a compensation operating mode and for interrupting the feedback path in this operating mode is provided in an amplifier. A control device detects an output signal and drives a controllable current source, which can be coupled to one of the two inputs of the amplifier, in such a manner that a compensation current which minimizes the offset is provided. The arrangement and method can be used, for example, in transmission arrangements.
