A writing utensil for a free-flowing writing fluid, comprising a closed reservoir with the writing fluid therein that has an outlet aperture for the writing fluid and a further aperture, an elongate writing tip which communicates with the outlet aperture of the reservoir and is slidably supported, and a valve which is disposed inside a communicating path between the writing tip and reservoir and interacts with the writing tip so as to cause the valve to open the communicating path if a force acts onto the writing tip, wherein the further aperture connects the reservoir to the surroundings via an air line.

A fluid dispensing utensil, such as a writing utensil, includes a container defining a first storage area for storing fluid, a second storage area and an opening therebetween, a tip, a capillary conveying line extending from the opening through at least a portion of the second storage area to the tip, and a capillary storage associated with the second storage area and in direct contact with the conveying line. The average capillarity of the capillary conveying line is substantially greater than the average capillarity of the storage.

Device for filling writing, drawing, printing, or painting utensils

A device for filling a writing utensil having an applicator tip for applying a liquid has a container for receiving a liquid. The container has an air inlet connection to connect the interior of the container to a surrounding atmosphere and further has an opening. A receiving member for receiving the writing utensil or a liquid reservoir of the writing utensil is provided, wherein the receiving member is sealingly connected within the opening. A capillary liquid conveying connection, having a first and a second end, for conveying the liquid from the container into a writing utensil or a liquid reservoir of a writing utensil is provided. The first end opens into the receiving member and contacts the writing tip of the writing utensil or the inlet of the liquid reservoir of the writing utensil. The air inlet connection has at least one chamber.

A device for applying writing, drawing, printing and painting fluids onto a surface is provided. The device comprises a fluid container, a respective applicating tip, an air inlet tube that connects an interior of the fluid container to the surrounding atmosphere, and a capillary fluid reservoir. The capillary fluid reservoir is arranged within a fluid conveying connection between the fluid that is contained in the fluid container and the applicating tip whereby the fluid conveying connection is interrupted when the applicating tip is pointed in a downward direction.

Solids which are soluble in a common solvent or solvent mixture, possibly containing a common high-boiling substance of common marker liquids for writing instruments with a common capillary feeder opening, with a melting point .gtoreq.30.degree. C. and a molecular weight .ltoreq.1000 daltons, and which, when they are the sole ingredient in the solvent or solvent mixture, crystallize on the feeder opening, forming outwardly growing crystallites, can be used as antiblocking additives for such marker liquids in a proportion of at leat 1% in weight, relative to the final composition of the marker liquid, for protective and anti-evaporating closure of the capillary feeder opening when it is unprotected and not in use.
