An airbag for a vehicle occupant restraint system of a motor vehicle is provided. The airbag comprising at least one first and one second layer of an airbag material, at least one inflatable chamber formed between the first and the second layer, which is inflatable for the protection of a vehicle occupant and at least one seam, by which the first and the second layer are connected with each other along at least a portion of their respective circumference. The airbag is deployed between a vehicle occupant and a vehicle side structure. The airbag is formed such that when the airbag is mounted in the vehicle and inflated, the seam extends along a plane which is oriented obliquely or transversely to a plane formed by the longitudinal and the height direction of the vehicle.

Airbag for a vehicle occupant restraint system and method for producing a vehicle occupant restraint system

An airbag for a vehicle occupant restraining system is provided. The airbag comprises a first inflatable area; a second inflatable area; a shoulder area arranged between the first and seconds area. The shoulder area extends in the inflated status of the airbag in the area of a shoulder and/or in an upper arm region of the vehicle occupant to be protected. The shoulder area has a thickness lower than the thickness of the first and second areas as determined in a direction vertical to the main plane of extension of the inflated airbag or comprises a recess in the airbag. The airbag is to be arranged in a vehicle such that, in case of a side collision of the vehicle, the shoulder and/or the upper arm region of the vehicle occupant strikes the shoulder area of the airbag.

Airbag for a vehicle occupant restraining system

An occupant restraint device for a motor vehicle is provided. The occupant restraint device includes a first airbag which is inflatable with gas to protect an occupant who occupies a seat in the form of a driver's seat or a front passenger seat of the motor vehicle as intended, wherein the first airbag is designed to be arranged in a steering wheel or an instrument panel of the motor vehicle in a non-inflated state, and a second airbag, which can be inflated with gas to protect the occupant. The second airbag is designed such that an edge area thereof facing the vehicle front extends along the A-pillar of the motor vehicle in an inflated state.

Occupant restraint device

An airbag arrangement for a vehicle occupant restraining system including at least one inflatable airbag and an inflating device. The airbag includes a first inflatable area which extends in the inflated status of the airbag in the area of a first body region of the vehicle occupant, and a second inflatable area, which extends in the inflated status of the airbag in the area of a second body region of the vehicle occupant. The first inflatable area has a larger thickness vertical to the main extension plane of the airbag than the second inflatable area. The inflating device and the airbag are designed for inflating the first inflatable area of the airbag to such a high internal pressure that during the impact of the occupant on the airbag a force is exerted onto the first body region of the vehicle occupant which sets the occupant into a tilting motion.

Airbag for a vehicle occupant restraint system and a method for protecting a vehicle occupant

An airbag arrangement for a vehicle occupant restraint system includes an airbag on a side of a backrest of a vehicle seat that when inflated first extends substantially in a direction of a vertical vehicle axis and then forward from a backrest in a direction of travel of the vehicle. The airbag includes at least one inflatable chamber extending substantially forward from the backrest in the direction of travel and that is assigned to a body region of a vehicle occupant to support the vehicle occupant in a side collision. The at least one chamber is extended by a section that extends forward in the direction of travel when the airbag is inflated so that the airbag supports the vehicle occupant if vehicle occupant moves obliquely forward in the direction of travel because the section intercepts the associated body region of the vehicle occupant.

Airbag arrangement

A side airbag arrangement for a vehicle occupant restraint system includes an airbag which is provided for the protection of a vehicle occupant and which has at least two inflatable chambers which are in each case to assume a specific position in a motor vehicle after inflation. A functional band is provided, which is secured by a portion outside the airbag. At least a portion of the functional band exerts on at least one of the chambers of the airbag a holding force, which has the effect that the chamber, after inflation, assumes the position provided for the chamber.

Side airbag

An apparatus for an airbag arrangement including a frame part and an airbag package. The frame part may be a part of a base body of a motor vehicle seat. The airbag package is fastened to the frame part. The airbag package includes a folded-up airbag that may be inflated with gas. The airbag package further includes at least one clamping element that is configured to press the airbag package against the frame part. The clamping element includes a first and a second end region via which the clamping element is secured to the frame part. The two end regions are connected to one another via a pretensionable bearing region of the clamping element. The clamping element includes an intermediate layer extending between the airbag package and the frame part, that together with the bearing region encompasses the airbag package in cross section by 360&#xb0;.

Airbag arrangement for a motor vehicle seat

The disclosed occupant protection device for a vehicle can include at least one airbag that protects a vehicle occupant in the event of a collision of the vehicle. The airbag can have an outflow opening through which the gas can exit the side airbag and/or has an overflow opening located inside the airbag. After the occupant protection device has been tripped, the side airbag can be inflated and be positioned laterally next to the vehicle occupant in such a manner that the outflow opening and/or the overflow opening is closed, is throttled, or remains open according to the body size of the vehicle occupant.

Side protection device

The invention relates to an airbag arrangement, comprising a gas bag, a gas generator for inflating the gas bag, a flexible chamber arranged within the gas bag, into which the gas from the gas generator flows, at least one outlet opening through which the gas is led into the gas bag in order to inflate the same and at least one ventilating opening, through which gas can escape into the environment. According to the invention, the ventilating opening (E) is arranged such that gas from the flexible chamber () can reach the ventilating opening (E) without passing through the outlet opening of the flexible chamber ().

Airbag Arrangement

The disclosed apparatus can control the cross section of at least one vent opening of an airbag module, through which gases can escape into the environment. The apparatus can include: at least one covering part for at least partially covering the at least one vent opening and an operating mechanism comprising a gas source and an inflatable element in fluid communication with the gas source. The inflatable element can be configured to produce a variation in the outlet cross section of the vent opening in cooperation with the covering part.

Airbag module

An airbag fabric including a tear resistant structure is provided. The tear resistant structure may include tear resisting threads positioned parallel to the warp and weft threads. The tear resistant structure may also include a plurality of tear barriers positioned on the fabric in separate island shaped structures.

Airbag fabric

A vehicle seat arrangement having a motor vehicle seat, in which arrangement it is possible to control the kinematics of the motor vehicle seat and/or of a vehicle occupant situated thereon, in such a way that, in the event of a crash, there is as small a relative movement as possible between the vehicle occupant and the motor vehicle seat along the direction of the crash forces.

Safety arrangement for motor vehicles

The invention relates to a gas flow distributor for a lateral airbag module. The distributor is used to distribute a gas flow leaving a gas generator by the outflow openings thereof, in a targeted manner, in a gas bag which is to be inflated by the gas generator. According to an embodiment, the gas flow distributor is formed by a dimensionally stable receiving element surrounding outflow openings of the gas generator.
