Radiation source for electromagnetic radiation the major effective component of which is in the near-infrared region, in particular in the wavelength region between 0.8 &#x3bc;m and 1.5 &#x3bc;m, to form an elongated irradiation zone, with an elongated halogen lamp comprising a glass body that has a tubular shape with bases at the ends and contains at least one spiral filament, and with an elongated reflector, such that the bases of the halogen lamp are disposed in the region of the reflector surface or behind it with reference to the position of the halogen lamp, wherein the ends of the halogen lamp are bent around toward the reflector and the spiral filaments or at least one of them is made thicker or is more densely wound in the bent region of the glass body, in such a way that the radiation flux density of the radiation source is substantially constant in the long direction of the source, between the outermost points of the bases.

Radiation source and device

Disclosed is a radiation apparatus for technical uses, especially a UV crosslinking apparatus of a printing press, coating machine, or similar. Said radiation apparatus comprises at least one radiation source emitting a processing radiation, at least one controllable and particularly wavelength-selective reflector which is assigned to the radiation source and is used for selectively directing the processing radiation onto a substrate that is to be processed or away therefrom, a driving mechanism which is effectively connected to the reflector, and a housing accommodating at least the at least one radiation source and the at least one reflector. At least one first and second radiation source are provided between which the controllable reflector is disposed and which can be operated above all in a separate manner. The reflector is formed and mounted so as to direct the processing radiation of all radiation sources towards the substrate in a first position while directing the processing radiation of all radiation sources away from the substrate in a second position.

Method and device for removing dents from sheet metal parts

Method and apparatus for coating the surface of an object, especially the surface of a car bumper ( ) with a plastic film ( ). During and/or after application of the plastic film to the surface, the coating is irradiated with infra-red radiation in order to heat at least parts of the coating and/or optionally residual moisture between the surface and the plastic film ( ). This enables slight inequalities of the plastic film to be compensated, the adhesive coating is distributed in a homogeneous manner and the optionally residual moisture is collected in the form of bubbles following infrared radiation. Defects or irregularities in the coating can thus be identified during or shortly afterwards.

A method and an apparatus for drying a substance that is being rapidly conveyed in a conveyor apparatus, in particular for drying layers of printing ink on rapidly transported paper, wherein in a drying zone by means of incident electromagnetic radiation a moisture component, in particular a solvent, is separated from the substance to be dried. The separated moisture component is transported away from the drying zone by means of a transport gas current. Efficient and rapid drying of in particular printed newsprint or thermal printing paper is attained at high conveyor velocities.
