A method of welding two work pieces that define a connecting zone between them is described. A friction pin is fed at a starting point into the connecting zone and into opposite regions of the work pieces on both sides of the connecting zone. The friction pin is moved in a welding direction along the connecting zone resulting in the work pieces being welded. The friction pin is led out of the connecting zone after welding the work pieces. The friction pin is fed into a sacrificial element while lifting the friction pin.

Method and apparatus for welding two work pieces

An apparatus for testing a vessel wall includes a rail and a carriage running on the rail. An inclining and swiveling telescoping arm has an end being pivotably connected to the carriage and a free end. The telescoping arm has curved members with U-shaped cross sections. A drive mechanism for extending and retracting the telescoping arm includes a pusher tube having tensile strength and resistance to compression for driving the members in common and a motor for driving the pusher tube. A test unit is carried by the free end of the telescoping arm and a data line is connected between the test unit and an evaluation unit.

Manipulator for the inspection of pressure vessels open at the top

Inspection device, including a probe having a thrust hose for moving the probe, the thrust hose having mutually equidistant holes formed therein along a generatrix line thereof, a feed device having drive wheels for engaging the thrust hose to move the probe, and plugs disposed on at least one of the drive wheels for insertion in the holes.
