In some example embodiments, a computerized method includes receiving multiple documents from at least one machine-readable media. The multiple documents have a hierarchical relationship relative to each other. The multiple documents include a first document, wherein a second document of the multiple documents comprises an enhancement to first document. The enhancement is at least one of a replacement of part of the first document or an addition to the first document. The computerized method includes displaying the multiple documents on a display screen such that the multiple documents are arranged according to the hierarchical relationship.

Example systems and methods of displaying semantic layers of source code of a computer program are presented. In one example, a user selection of a first portion of the source code is received. The first portion is displayed in a first display area and corresponds to a first semantic layer of the source code. A user command referring to a second portion of the source code related to the first portion is received, with the second portion corresponding to a second semantic layer of the source code. In response to the user command, a second display area for the second portion of the source code is displayed to indicate a relationship between the first and second portions while indicating a difference in semantic layers between the first and second portions.

A method is provided to display indicia of an object type for a service within a user interface of a software development system that runs on a computer, the method comprising: obtaining runtime context information that includes an identification of a respective service and an indication of a user role; providing a plurality of corresponding object types; using context dependent rules to determine which respective object types are within scope of a service; and generating a user interface that includes respective indicia of respective object types determined to be within the scope of the service.

A composite extension definition has one or more extension definitions, each of which can be either an atomic or a non-atomic extension definition. In one aspect, a program has instructions to create a composite extension definition, to generate composite metadata that represents the composite extension definition, and to store the composite metadata for later use. The program can include instructions to receive input specifying dependency relationships between or among extensions defined by the extension definitions and to include the relationships in the composite metadata. Composite extension definitions can be created by an application developer for use by customers to guide them in implementing and deploying extensions to a computer program application.

A program according to one aspect of the invention has instructions to receive an application call to an extension method defined in an extension object definition, the extension object definition having associated extension object implementations, the extension object implementations providing extension method implementations of the extension method; instructions operable to obtain results by calling multiple extension method implementations of the extension method; and instructions operable to respond to the application call using the results obtained from the extension method implementations. A method according to another aspect includes the steps of deploying multiple extension method implementations for an extension method; and executing the multiple extension method implementations to determine the results of calling the extension method.
