A method for activating a gas, wherein an electrically conductive aeromaterial having a pore space comprising the gas is electrically contacted and at least one electric current, which varies over time, flows through the aeromaterial, wherein the aeromaterial exhales gas from the pore space when the electrical power consumption is increased and inhales gas from the surroundings of the aeromaterial when the power consumption is decreased, and wherein a temporally pulsed current having predefined pulse power levels, pulse durations and pulse spacings is fed through the aeromaterial and the temperature of the aeromaterial is changed by the time-varying current by 100° C. or more within one second or less. The invention also relates to an electrothermal gas actuator and to uses of a gas actuator.

An adhesive joining device for providing a connection between a metal surface and a body using an electrochemical etching device. The device has a vacuum holder to form a vacuum connection between the adhesive joining device and the metal surface. A tool changing holder receives at least two different tools in a time-staggered manner. A first tool can be an electrochemical etching cell for an electrolyte with an etching chamber which is oriented towards the metal surface, a feed for electrolyte, a drain, and two electrodes, one electrode being mechanically and electrically connected to the metal surface and the second electrode coming into contact with the electrolyte. A second tool is for holding and positioning the body to be adhered to the etched metal surface. The distance, position, alignment, and/or parallelity of the body to be adhered can be configured in a reliable and defined manner for the adhesion process.

A method for etching fragments of aluminum or an aluminum alloy comprising the steps of: a. providing a hydrochloric acid solution in a trough-shaped container; b. inoculating the hydrochloric acid solution by chemically dissolving an amount of aluminum to produce an etching solution; c. adding the fragments to the etching solution immediately after the inoculation; d. etching the fragments for 0.5 to 10 minutes while stirring in such a way that the fragments are entrained by the motion of the etching solution; e. stopping the etching by diluting the etching solution with water; f. removing the etched fragments; g. repeatedly rinsing the fragments with water and h. rinsing the fragments with an organic desiccant. The invention relates to a porous hydrogel matrix having substantially interconnected tunnel-shaped micropores with a three-dimensional configuration of an interconnected hollow tetrapod network. Such matrices may be used to entrap motile cells that migrate into the micropores of said matrix. The matrices of the invention are formed by a method comprising the steps of providing a solution of a hydrogel-forming material, providing a template material with a three-dimensional configuration corresponding to the negative configuration of the desired interconnected porous structure of the hydrogel material, said template material comprising interconnected zinc oxide tetrapod (t-ZnO) networks, casting the solution of hydrogel-forming material onto the template and removing the template material from the hydrogel material by acid hydrolysis of the template material.

Microporous hydrogels

A filling needle can be used in a tube set for transferring a flowable medium, in particular a pharmaceutical product. The filling needle has a needle end for temporary insertion in a filling vessel. Furthermore, the filling needle has a connector end for connecting the filling needle to a filling vessel, via which the medium can be supplied to the filling needle. An inner tube lumen of the filling needle is defined by an inner tube layer made of silicone. The result is a filling needle that can be manufactured inexpensively.

Specific applications of particles and particle agglomerates with semiconductor surfaces are provided. The particles and particle agglomerates display a high affinity for viral particles, and may be used therapeutically and/or prophylactically to treat or prevent viral infections. The particles and particle agglomerates may also be used to remove viral particles from a surface or fluid, e.g., as an absorbent in a filter, applied to surfaces to render them virostatic, and as tool to handle viral particles, e.g., for research, diagnostic, or decontamination purposes.

The method comprises the following steps: a film which is used as a shadow mask and which is made of a masking material is applied to the substrate, tears are produced in the film, the tears extending until the substrate, edge areas of the film arranged on the tears are detached thereby exposing the substrate and the material or the energy is applied to the substrate by the tears, also above the exposed edge area of the shadow mask film.
