A lidar system for scanning a scanning range. The lidar system includes a transmitter unit for generating beams and for emitting the generated beams along a scanning range, the transmitter unit having at least one radiation source. The lidar system also includes at least one receiver unit for receiving and evaluating beams reflected or scattered back in the scanning range. The scanning range acted upon by the generated beams is subdivided into at least two sections. At least one first section is scanned using a higher radiant power than a second section of the scanning range. A control unit is also described.

Eye-safe lidar system having an adjustable scanning range

A method for emitting laser light in the form of laser pulses, including the steps: planning a laser pulse based on pulse parameters, checking whether laser pulses which were emitted within a predefined preceding time interval, together with the planned pulse, meet a predefined energy criterion, and emitting the planned laser pulse with the aid of an emitting unit if the energy criterion is met, and not emitting the planned laser pulse or reducing a power of the laser pulse if the energy criterion is not met.

Method for emitting laser light

A directed light source supplies a light cone which is guided across a predefined area. A method for controlling the light source includes determining a movement of the light source; estimating an impending change in a section of the area illuminated by the light cone as a result of the determined movement; determining that the section will most likely be illuminated by the changed light cone for longer than predefined; and supplying a dimming signal for the light source.
