In a method for controlling a print head with a number of printing elements operating according to the thermotransfer principle, an energy quantity is fed to a printing element in a feed step in order to transfer ink from an ink carrier device associated with the print head to a substrate associated with the ink carrier device to generate an image point of a barcode, with the energy quantity being adjusted dependent on the position of the image point in the barcode.

Printer with thermotransfer print head and method for control thereof

A printing device has a print head which operates according to the inkjet principle and a control device which actuates the print head for producing a two-dimensional barcode. The barcode contains a matrix composed of a plurality of image fields. The barcode contains at least one first image field which is printed with a plurality of image points by the print head and at least one second image field which is substantially unprinted. The control device is configured for converting barcode data which define the position and size of the image fields into actuating signals for the print head. The control device is configured for converting the barcode data into actuating signals for the print head in such a way that at least one first image field is printed with a lower number of image points than corresponds to the barcode data.

In a printer and a method for control of the print head thereof operating according to the thermotransfer principle, the print head having a number of printing elements for which an energy quantity to be supplied to one of the printing elements is determined in a determination step and the energy quantity is supplied to that printing element in a supply step in order to transfer ink from an ink carrier device associated with the print head onto a substrate associated with the ink carrier device, by the energy quantity is determined in the determination step dependent on the print image type of the print image in the region of the image point.

Thermotransfer printer, and method for controlling activation of printing elements of a print head thereof

In an ink-jet printer head having a number of edge-shooter module assemblies arranged in a stack, each module assembly has first and second circuit modules with an inkjet printer module therebetween. The ink-jet printer module is, in turn, formed by first and second cover plates with a middle plate therebetween. Piezoactuators are disposed on the cover plates in registry with ink pressure chambers in the module assembly, the ink pressure chambers respectively being in communication with nozzle apertures disposed at an edge of the module assembly. Various electrical components, including a driver circuit and conductor runs for operating the piezoactuators are disposed on the circuit modules in electrical contact with the piezoactuators.

A method of compensating for resistance tolerances in the printing of a multi-tone picture with a printing device which includes printing elements. Starting from a smaller number of required tone grades than the number of available tone grades, represented by energy values, printing is always effected with those available tone grades whose available optical density comes close to the required optical density. The differences between the required optical density and actually available optical density are added to form a mean deviation whose magnitude is minimized by selecting the corresponding available tone grade so that the created visual picture has the required optical density.
