A pyrotechnic igniter includes at least one pyrotechnic material designed to be ignited by a heating element, a case enclosing the at least one pyrotechnic material, and a plastic overmoulding of the case, forming a fixation interface of the igniter and designed to be inserted into a fixation orifice of a support up to an inserted position. The fixation interface of the plastic overmoulding includes at least one deformable part designed to elastically deform during passage into the fixation orifice and assume during an elastic return a blocking position against the support when the igniter is in the inserted position in order to prevent any withdrawal of the igniter.

Pyrotechnic igniter

An airbag unit and method for folding up a driver's airbag, which has an insertion opening for a gas generator and, after activation of the gas generator, is unfolded away therefrom in the direction of a user. The airbag is folded around an imaginary center in alternating directions along first folding lines running around the imaginary center and is compressed in the direction of the center. At least one partial region of the airbag is rolled up or folded over onto the side towards the insertion opening.

Method for folding up an airbag, and an airbag unit

A safety module for a motor vehicle includes at least one inflatable cushion with a first fixation interface and at least one actuating device. The at least one actuating device includes an igniter and an igniter support. The igniter has a plastic overmolding forming a second fixation interface. The igniter support has a third fixation interface designed to receive and fix the second fixation interface. The at least one actuating device retains the first fixation interface by sandwiching it between at least one part of the second fixation interface and at least one part of the third fixation interface.

A steering wheel unit with a steering wheel body and an air bag module arranged on the steering wheel body and can be depressed on the steering wheel body in an axial direction. Positioning units position the air bag module on the steering wheel, including a first positioning unit (P, P', and P&#x2033;), a steering wheel side positioning element with at least one rigid level positioning surface (&#x2033;), and an air bag module side positioning element with at least one rigid positioning mating surface (&#x2033;). The positioning surface and the positioning mating surface are parallel to and abut one another when the air bag module is not depressed. The positioning surface (&#x2032;, and&#x2033;) and the positioning mating surface (&#x2032;, and&#x2033;) are angled toward one another with respect to a reference plane (BE) which is perpendicular to the axial direction.

Steering wheel unit

An airbag module having a first nozzle () enclosing a first gas compartment (G), and a first inflator. At least one adaptive ventilation device for the first gas compartment (G) is provided with a ventilation opening () bordered by flexible material and at least one throttle device with a tear seam, which, in a first state, throttles the gas flow more strongly than in a second state. A second cover () surrounding a second gas compartment (G) and a gas source for the second gas compartment (G) are provided, wherein the tear seam () extends through the second gas compartment and, upon filling of the second gas compartment (G) by the gas source, the seam ruptures and the adaptive ventilation device passes from the first, to the second state.

Airbag module with an adaptive ventilation device

An airbag module having a first shell () forming a first gas chamber (GI), a first inflator for the first gas chamber (GI), an adaptive influencing device for influencing the ventilation or shape of the first gas chamber (GI), and an actuation unit () for the influencing device. The actuation device () has a second shell () forming a second gas chamber (G), and a gas source. The state of the influencing device changing upon actuating the gas source. A tensioning element having a first end () is coupled to the adaptive influencing device or forms the device, and a second end () is coupled to the second shell () when the second gas chamber (G) is not filled and is decoupled from the second shell () when the second gas chamber (G) is filled.

Airbag module with an adaptive influencing device

An air bag module () having an air bag (), a receiving and retaining element () to receive and hold the air bag and an inflator to fill the air bag. To increase the thermal stability the air bag () and/or the receiving and retaining element () consist at least in part of a radiation crosslinked plastic, in particular of a radiation crosslinked thermoplastic.

Airbag module and method for producing same

Disclosed is a method for folding an airbag () for placement in an airbag module for a motor vehicle. The method involves folding the airbag (), exposing the airbag () to moisture, compressing the airbag (), and simultaneously extracting the moisture. Moisture in liquid or vapor form can be introduced before or after folding the airbag. Further disclosed is a device for folding the airbag.

A steering wheel for a motor vehicle having an airbag module arranged thereon as well as horn contacts arranged on the steering wheel and/or on the airbag module, which can be brought into electric contact with each other in order to activate an acoustic horn signal with the steering wheel installed in a motor vehicle . The horn contacts () consist of a conducting sheet (), which can be mounted by means of an adhesive layer () on a substrate formed by the airbag module () or the steering wheel.

A steering wheel unit with an airbag module and a steering wheel body is connectable to a steering column defining the axial direction. The steering wheel body includes an accommodation for the airbag module in the hub area. The airbag module can be pressed down against the steering wheel body against the force of at least one spring and at least two positioning units act between the airbag module and the steering wheel body. The positioning units are arranged in a center of gravity plane being perpendicular to the axial direction. In order to provide an easy mountability and a high degree of flexibility in respect of the installation space, the positioning units act at least in non-axial direction and the at least one spring is spaced from the positioning units.

A vehicle steering wheel with a steering wheel body, a movable element held movably on the steering wheel body, which element can be pressed down against the force of a restoring element against the steering wheel body, and with a horn contact which is closed by pressing down of the element. An economical design for constructing the horn contact is created in that the horn contact has two cable cores () which are held in a holding element (), and that a contact element () which is likewise held by the holding element () extends into each of the cable cores (). The two contact elements () come into electrical contact with each other here by the pressing down of the movable element.

Vehicle steering wheel

A vehicle assembly including a cover, for example, an airbag cover, having an attached plate of the type adapted to support a manufacturer's emblem, wherein the plate penetrates with tongues distributed over its circumference into perforations arranged at the vehicle assembly cover. The tongues are bent into matching slots molded on the back of the vehicle assembly cover about a bending edge arranged between the perforations and the slots. At least one of the tongues is provided at its free end with a narrower neck region and a cross-sectional enlargement extending through the perforations in the vehicle assembly cover, and the slots having a shape matching the contour of one or more of the tongue.

A steering wheel unit for a motor vehicle. The steering wheel unit has a steering wheel and an airbag module () located in the hub area of the steering wheel. This airbag module forms a housing (), an airbag () folded into the housing, and a gas generator (). The airbag module can be pushed down against the force of at least one spring element to activate a horn, whereby positioning means are present which define the position of the airbag module in relation to the steering wheel. In order to achieve a high degree of operational reliability and a very exact positioning of the airbag module in the steering wheel, at least one retaining means () is present which acts between the airbag module and the steering wheel (). This retaining means is ineffective in the absence of outer forces and when the airbag module () is pressed down to activate a horn.
