A refrigeration unit includes a cabinet with a refrigerator compartment, a freezer compartment, and a machine compartment. The cabinet includes a mullion region between the refrigerator compartment and the freezer compartment, a first pass-through therethrough providing access from an external environment to the refrigerator compartment, and a second pass-through therethrough providing access from the external environment to the freezer compartment. The cabinet further includes a third pass-through extending through the mullion region, and a refrigerant system. The refrigerant system includes a three-way valve configured to direct a refrigerant down a first flow path or a second flow path, the refrigerant in the first flow path flows through the first pass-through, a first evaporator, the third pass-through, and the second evaporator, and the refrigerant in the second flow path flows through the second pass-through and the second evaporator.

A refrigeration appliance includes: (i) a vacuum-insulated structure defining a refrigerable compartment, the vacuum-insulated structure comprising a pass-through therethrough providing access from an external environment to the refrigerable compartment; (ii) an evaporator disposed within the refrigerable compartment, the evaporator configured to lower or maintain a temperature of the refrigerable compartment below ambient temperature; (iii) a refrigerant line that extends through the pass-through and into the refrigerable compartment, the refrigerant line in fluid communication with the evaporator; (iv) a water line extending through the pass-through and into the refrigerable compartment; and (v) a housing that at least partially houses the evaporator within the refrigerable compartment, the housing comprising a wall proximate the pass-through that separates the water line from the refrigerant line where the water line and the refrigerant line extend from the pass-through and into the refrigerable compartment.

A refrigeration appliance includes a vacuum-insulated structure that defines an interior compartment. The vacuum-insulated structure defines a pass-through through the vacuum-insulated structure. The pass-through provides access from an external environment to the interior compartment. An evaporator is disposed within the interior compartment. The evaporator is operable to lower or maintain a temperature of the interior compartment below ambient temperature. A refrigerant line extends through the pass-through and into the interior compartment. A water line extends through the pass-through and into the interior compartment. An insulation block is disposed within the interior compartment and between the evaporator and the water line.

A refrigeration appliance includes a cabinet having a trim breaker defining a mullion region and a refrigerant system. The cabinet defines a first compartment and a second compartment. The refrigerant system includes a refrigerant defining a flow path through a compressor, a heat loop coupled to the compressor, a condenser coupled to the heat loop, and an evaporator assembly coupled to the compressor and the condenser. The heat loop is routed around a perimeter of the cabinet and through the mullion region. The evaporator assembly includes at least one first evaporator disposed in the first compartment and a second evaporator disposed in the second compartment. The at least one first evaporator may include a first roll bond evaporator coupled to a second roll bond evaporator in series with the first, or a wire-on-tube evaporator.
