A power receptacle with a housing having an inwardly extending chamber, the inwardly extending chamber having a depth dimension that is between 0.5 inches and 5 inches, more typically between 1 and 5 inches, sized and configured to releasably receive a portable power supply inside the chamber. The housing includes an internal electrical charging interface. When the portable power supply is in the chamber, the portable power supply electrically engages the electrical charging interface to thereby charge the portable power supply. The receptacles can be in-wall or in-floor units. The housings can be a 'custom' housing size and/or may be configured to occupy a single gang box or a compartment of a multi-gang junction box.

Power receptacles with internal chambers for releasably holding portable power devices

An electrical wiring device includes a manually adjustable switch, a light emitting diode (LED), a light level sensor, and a microcontroller. The wiring device also optionally includes an occupancy sensor. Light level is sensed through a light pipe and light is emitted by the LED through the same light pipe. When the manually adjustable switch is positioned to energize a load, the LED is deactivated and ambient light level is sensed by light sensors through the light pipe. The ambient light level is compared to a minimum ambient light level to determine if the load will be energized. Alternatively, the LED is deactivated and the ambient light level is sensed through the light pipe when the switch is positioned to de-energize the load. This ambient light level is stored and compared to the minimum ambient light level at a time when the switch is later positioned to energize the load.

Method and apparatus for a switch having a light pipe for combined LED display and light level sensing

A solar power system may include a combiner module, one or more rows of solar panels connected to the combiner module, and one or more wiring circuits connecting the one or more rows of solar panels to the combiner module. Each circuit may include an inter-module wiring arrangement that connects individual solar panels to each other in series, and a return wiring arrangement that connects the inter-module wiring arrangement to the combiner module. Each inter-module wiring arrangement may be arranged such that at least some solar panels are wired to other solar panels in the same row in a substantially alternating manner, such that non-adjacent solar panels in the same row are wired directly in series to each other. This arrangement may reduce the total length of harness wires needed to connect the one or more panel rows to the combiner box, as compared with conventional wiring schemes.

Systems and methods for wiring solar panel arrays

A connector with an integral fuse holder is described herein. The connector can include a portion having a fuse receiver disposed within a cavity and coupled to an electrical connection feature. The connector can include an end coupled to the portion, where the end includes a wall that forms a cavity. The connector can further include a fuse assembly having a contact member, a fuse, a fuse holder, and a conductor receiver. The contact member can couple to the electrical connection feature. The fuse holder can include a first end that couples to a top end of the fuse and the contact member, and a second end that couples to a bottom end of the fuse. The conductor receiver can couple to the second end of the fuse holder and to the bottom end of the fuse. A receiving feature of the conductor receiver can couple to a conductor.

An electrical control system includes a power supply circuit comprising a load. Further, the electrical control system includes a master node that is electrically coupled to the load via the power supply circuit. The master node includes a first power line communication interface and a first wireless communication interface. Furthermore, the electrical control system includes at least one slave node that is electrically coupled to the master node via the power supply circuit. The at least one slave node includes a second power line communication interface that is communicable with the first power line communication interface to send a first control signal to the master node through power line communication for controlling the load. The electrical control system further includes a controller that is wirelessly coupled to the master node to send a second control signal wirelessly to the master node for controlling the load.

A fuse assembly includes a housing comprising a first compartment and a second compartment. The fuse assembly also includes a fuse holder movable between a closed position and an open position relative to the housing. A fuse can be removed when the fuse holder is in the open position, and the fuse is inaccessible when the fuse holder is in the closed position. The fuse assembly also includes a first connector comprising a first fuse contact disposed at one end and a first wire coupler disposed at an opposite end. The first connector is slidable between an engaged position and a disengaged position within the first compartment. The connector is electrically coupled to the fuse in the engaged position and electrically decoupled in the disengaged position. The first connector locks the fuse holder in the closed position when the first connector is in the engaged position.

An electrical wiring device includes a metal switch cover as a user contact point. The metal switch cover has antimicrobial properties that reduces microorganisms that are present on the wiring device, and helps reduce the spread of infections or disease from user to user. The metal switch cover is disposed on a switch in the wiring device, such that users touch the metal switch cover when operating the switch. In some exemplary embodiments, the metal switch cover is coupled to a paddle-style switch and takes on the profile of a paddle. In some exemplary embodiments, the metal switch cover is coupled to a toggle-style switch and take on the profile of a toggle.

Night light

A dimmer system for a luminaire is provided. The dimmer system has a dimmer that receives a first current and supplies a reduced-magnitude current. The dimmer system also has a boosting system that receives the reduced-magnitude current and supplies a boosted current to a light source or lamp if the reduced-magnitude current is being received in conjunction with the initial turn-on of the dimmer. The boosted current can be provided for a predetermined period of time. The boosted current can also be provided as pulses of boosted current interspersed with pulses of the reduced-magnitude current. The boosted current can have the magnitude of the first current or range from 70% to 100% of the first current.
