An integrated power combiner is disclosed. The power combiner includes a first circular geometry primary winding having one or more inductive elements, such as an active winding with one or more driver stages. A circular geometry secondary winding is disposed adjacent to the first primary winding, such as an active winding with one or more driver stages. A second circular geometry primary winding is disposed adjacent to the secondary winding and has one or more inductive elements. One or more connections are provided between one or more of the inductive elements of the first circular geometry primary winding and one or more of the inductive elements of the second circular geometry primary winding.

Various configurations and arrangements of systems and methods for compensating for variations in VCO output frequencies are described. A system in accordance with the disclosure can include an oscillator circuit including an oscillator, a first variable capacitance diode coupled to the oscillator and a second variable capacitance diode coupled to the oscillator. The system further includes a voltage source configured to apply a first voltage to the oscillator circuit to cause the output signal to comprise a selected frequency, the selected frequency being based on a received reference voltage. The system further includes a controller circuit configured to compare an operating voltage of the oscillator to the reference voltage while the first voltage is applied to the oscillator; and apply a second voltage to the oscillator circuit based on the comparison. The second voltage compensates for a difference between the reference voltage and the first voltage.

Compensation of slow time-varying variations in voltage controlled oscillator (VCO) frequency in cellular transceivers

A transmitter circuit with a passive mixer network includes a first outbound signal path configured to carry a first outbound signal. The transmitter circuit includes a second outbound signal path configured to carry a second outbound signal. The transmitter circuit includes N passive mixers coupled to the first and second outbound signal paths and configured to up-convert the first and second outbound signals from a first frequency to a second frequency based on a clock cycle, where N is a positive even integer. The first and second outbound signals are passed through the N passive mixers during each phase of 2*N phases in the clock cycle. The transmitter circuit also includes N radio frequency signal paths coupled to an output of respective ones of the N passive mixers and configured to receive the first and second outbound signals in the second frequency during each phase of the clock cycle.

Embodiments of a two-stage bypass power amplifier are provided. In general, the two-stage bypass power amplifier is configured to receive a RF signal that is to be transmitted to a remote device and provide gain to the RF signal prior to the RF signal being transmitted to the remote device. The two-stage bypass power amplifier is configured to operate efficiently (in terms of power) at two different gain or output power levels and can be extended to operate efficiently at additional gain or output power levels.

A receiver circuit includes a quadrature passive mixer, a first charge load, and a second charge load. The quadrature passive mixer has a differential input for receiving a differential input signal, and arranged for mixing the differential input signal with a quadrature local oscillator (LO) signal. The quadrature passive mixer has an in-phase mixer with a differential in-phase output, and a quadrature-phase mixer with a differential quadrature-phase output. The first and second charge loads are coupled to differential in-phase output and differential quadrature-phase output, respectively. In every quarter cycle of the quadrature LO signal, the differential in-phase output and the differential quadrature-phase output are arranged to be not shorted so as to avoid charging sharing between the first charge load and the second charge load, or are arranged to be shorted to cause charging sharing between the first charge load and the second charge load that generates a leakage path.

A system for controlling amplifier power is provided. The system includes a voltage envelope detector receiving a voltage signal and generating an attenuated voltage envelope signal. A current envelope detector receives a current signal and generates an attenuated current envelope signal. A controller receives power level data and generates attenuation control data for the voltage envelope signal and the current envelope signal. A detector receives the voltage envelope signal and the current envelope signal and generates a control signal based on the greater of the voltage envelope signal and the current envelope signal. A power amplifier level controller receives the control signal and generates a power amplifier level control signal.

Frequency dividing systems and methods

A receiver circuit includes an amplifier, an output impedance, and a mixer. The amplifier is arranged to generate an amplifier output. The mixer has an input and an output respectively coupled to the amplifier and the output impedance. The output impedance sets frequency selectivity provided at the input of the mixer, and the mixer is arranged to down-convert a signal derived from the amplifier output and accordingly generate a down-converted signal at the output of the mixer for further signal processing.
