An example method of upgrading an application in a software-defined data center (SDDC) includes: deploying, by lifecycle management software executing in the SDDC, a second appliance, a first appliance executing services of the application at a first version, the second appliance having services of the application at a second version, the services in the first appliance being active and the services in the second appliance being inactive; setting, by the lifecycle management software, the first and second appliances as a preemptive pair, where the first appliance is protected and the second appliance is unprotected by fault domain management (FDM) software executing in the SDDC; performing, by the lifecycle management software, a switchover to stop the services of the first appliance and start the services of the second appliance; and setting, by the lifecycle management software, the first appliance as unprotected and the second appliance as protected by the FDM software.

A plug-in based framework provides high availability (HA), including fault tolerance, in a distributed system, such as provided by a virtualized computing environment. A Highly Available system utilizes at least one host fit to send data, and a primary server fit to receive data. The primary server comprises, a failover server capable of communicating with a http server and able to receive data from the host, and where the http server can receive data from the failover server, and an adapter capable of receiving data from the http server for processing. Highly available and scalable telegraf based application monitoring

The present invention entails a highly available system comprising at least one host with at least one monitoring agent fit to send data, a cloud based proxy fit to receive the data, wherein said proxy comprises: an adapter, a master monitoring agent fit to command the at least one monitoring agent, and a failover server. The highly available system is further made up of at least one secondary cloud based proxy capable of communicating with the cloud based proxy, wherein the secondary cloud based proxy also comprises: a second adapter, a second master monitoring agent fit to command at least one monitoring agent, and a second failover server fit to communicate with the failover server. Finally, the highly available system also includes a node, wherein the node communicates with at least the cloud based proxy and the secondary cloud based proxy.

Highly available and scalable SaltStack based management pane for application monitoring

Systems and methods are provided herein for transitioning a supplicant from one virtual local area network (VLAN) to another using a change of authorization (COA) message. This may be accomplished by an authentication server notifying a network device that a host should be granted access to the network, wherein the authentication server authenticates the host using MAC based authentication. Based on this notification and the MAC address of the host, the network device assigns the host to a first VLAN. If the authentication server determines that the host needs to change from the first VLAN to a second VLAN the authentication server generates a COA message, associated with the host, wherein the COA message comprises a VLAN identifier related to the second VLAN. The authentication server transmits the COA message to the network device causing the network device to route traffic to and from the host using the second VLAN.
