Systems and methods are provided for utilizing remote spectrum analysis of transmit bands in communication systems. A transmit band spectrum corresponding to a transmit band used in transmitting signals may be captured. The captured transmit band spectrum may be processed, and based on such processing presence of noise, distortion, interference, etc. in the transmit band spectrum may be detected, wherein the noise, distortion, interference, etc. may be introduced by one or more other systems sharing a medium used in the transmitting of the signals. One or more characteristic associated with each instance of detected noise, distortion, interference, etc. may be determined. Reporting information, related to the detection of noise, distortion, interference, etc. and/or to the determined one or more characteristics associated with each instance of detected noise, distortion, interference, etc., may be determined, and the reported information may be sent to at least one remote system.

Remote spectrum analysis of transmit bands in communication systems

Systems and methods are provided for dynamically biasing power amplifiers. A power amplifier (PA) that amplifies an input signal may be controlled based on processing of the input signal. The controlling may include adjusting biasing applied to the power amplifier (PA). The processing of the input signal may include applying clipping to the input signal and determining one or more parameters of the input signal. The biasing applied to the power amplifier (PA) may be adjusted based on the one or more parameters of the input signal. The clipping may be configured such that signals applied to positive and negative sides of the power amplifier (PA) are not differential.

Dynamic biasing of power amplifiers

A radio frequency (RF) receiver may comprise a first sampling module that is operable to sample in a first level at a particular main sampling rate; a plurality of second-level sampling modules, wherein each of the plurality of second-level sampling modules is operable to sample in a second level, an output of the first level, at a second sampling rate that is reduced compared to the main sampling rate; and a plurality of third-level modules, each comprising a plurality of third-stage sampling sub-modules that are operable to sample at a third sampling rate that is reduced compared to the second sampling rate, and a plurality of corresponding analog-to-digital conversion (ADC) sub-modules.

Systems and methods are provided for dynamically biasing power amplifiers. In particular, dynamic biasing of a power amplifier may be controlled, with the controlling comprising receiving an input signal that is to be amplified; processing the input signal; generating based on said processing of the input signal input signal, a plurality of control signals comprising at least one biasing control signal; and applying the plurality of control signals to one or more control elements that are used in driving and/or control of the power amplifier. The one or more control elements may comprise at least one biasing component that adjusts biasing applied to power amplifier.

Systems and methods are provided for implementing and using multiband transceivers. In a transmitter that comprises a plurality of transmit paths, a frequency spectrum that is used for transmission may be assigned to the plurality of transmit paths. Performance in each of the plurality of transmit paths may be monitored during transmission of signals, and based on the monitored performance, at least one of segmentation of the frequency spectrum and assignment of the segments to the plurality of transmit paths may be dynamically modified. Performance monitoring may be based on spectrum usage, peak to average power ratio (PAPR), and/or performance related criteria (e.g., threshold, timeout duration, etc.). Modifying operation of a transmit path may comprise disabling or enabling that transmit path. The frequency spectrum may be segmented such that each of the segments is uniformly sized, or such that at least one of the segments is sized differently.

Power combining power amplifier architectures and methods

A signal receiver may comprise circuitry for applying multi-level sampling to an input signal, using a plurality of sampling rates that comprises at least two different sampling rates, and circuitry for processing one or more outputs of the multi-level sampling. The processing may comprises sampling at a sampling rate that is different than each of the plurality of sampling rates used during the multi-level sampling and applying analog-to-digital conversion. At least one of the sampling rates used during the multi-level sampling and/or the sampling rate used during the processing may be set based on configuring of one or more clock signals used during the multi-level sampling and/or during the processing. At least one of the one or more clock signals may be configured based on reduction of frequency of a corresponding base clock signal.

Signal receiver with multi-level sampling

Systems and methods are provided for implementing and using multiband transceiver architectures. In a transmit subsystem that comprises a plurality of transmit paths, a frequency spectrum that is used for transmission of signals may be segmented into a plurality of segments, and each of the segments may be allocated to one of the plurality of transmit paths. Further, performance in each of the plurality of transmit paths may be monitored during transmission of signals, and operation of the transmit subsystem and each of the plurality of transmit paths may be controlled based on the monitored performance. Such control may comprise dynamically performing one or more of modifying operation of one or more of the plurality of transmit paths, modifying assignment of plurality of segments to the plurality of transmit paths, and modifying segmentation of the frequency spectrum.

A signal receiver may comprise a first sampling circuitry that is operable to sample in a first level at a particular main sampling rate; a second sampling circuitry that is operable to sample in a second level, an output of the first sampling circuitry, at a second sampling rate that is reduced compared to the main sampling rate; a third sampling circuitry that is operable to sample in a third level, one or more outputs of the second sampling circuitry, at a third sampling rate that is reduced compared to the second sampling rate; and an analog-to-digital conversion (ADC) circuitry for applying analog-to-digital conversion to one or more outputs of the third sampling circuitry.

A harmonic rejection mixer includes a first scaling circuit for scaling an RF signal to generate a plurality of scaled RF signals, a first switching stage for sampling the scaled RF signals using a first plurality of switching signals, and a second mixing stage for mixing the sampled RF signals with a second plurality of switching signals to generate a plurality of frequency translated signals having different phases. A combiner adds the frequency translated signals together to generate a first plurality of baseband versions of the RF signal. A first amplifier stage processes the first plurality of baseband versions to generate a second plurality of baseband versions. The mixer further includes a second scaling circuit for scaling the second plurality of baseband versions and a second amplifier stage to generate an in-phase baseband signal and a quadrature baseband signal from the scaled second plurality of baseband versions.
