A method provides techniques for reducing object interference in a multi-camera system. The method includes selecting, by at least one processor of an electronic device, a first image capturing device having a first field of view (FOV) and that produces first image content. In response to detecting a partial occlusion of the first image capturing device by an object while the first image capturing device is receiving first image content, the at least one processor determines a zoom factor sufficient to remove the object from the received first image content. The processor then performs a zoom operation, based on the zoom factor, such that the object causing the partial occlusion of the first image capturing device is removed from subsequently received image content.

Object interference reduction in a multi-camera system

A monitoring system incorporates, and method and computer program product provide for learning about objects of interest to a person based on gaze direction. A controller of the monitoring system receives image stream(s) from a camera system of image capturing device(s) that capture a first image stream that encompasses eyes of a person and a second image stream that at least partially encompasses surrounding object(s) and surfaces viewable by the person. The controller determines a first region of interest (ROI) among the surrounding object(s) and surfaces that is aligned with an eye gaze direction of the person. The controller identifies an object contained within the first ROI. The controller determines an interest value of the object to the person, in part based on duration and/or frequency that the person gazes at the object. The controller stores the interest value along with identifying data of the identified object.

Eye gaze detection based learning of subjective interest

An electronic device, method and computer program product provide clear video feeds while operating within a data bandwidth limitation. The electronic system monitors eye gaze direction of a local participant viewing a display and positioned in a field of view of the at least one image capturing device. The electronic device receives, via a communications subsystem, and presents, at the display, more than one video feeds of respective participants in a video communication session. In response to determining that at least one video feed is not being gazed at by the local participant, the electronic system captures a video snippet of each of the at least one video feed and presents the video snippet within a participant tile in place of the respective video feed. The electronic system presents a live video feed in a corresponding participant tile that is being viewed by the local participant.

In aspects of display photo update recommendations, a catalyst is identified for updating a display photo of a user on a social media website. Further, a first collection of photos that are associated with the catalyst are retrieved from a photo gallery maintained in memory of a computing device. Using a machine learning model trained on a second collection of display photos utilized by connections of the user on the social media website, one or criteria are determined for display photos. Moreover, candidate display photos that satisfy the one or more criteria are identified from the first collection of photos and output to the photo gallery.

Techniques for gaze-based video conference prompts are described that leverage eye-tracking algorithms within a video conference setting to perform a variety of functionality. For instance, a computing device displays a user interface of a video conference session that includes representations of video conference attendees. The computing device receives video content that depicts a user of the computing device and uses eye tracking techniques to determine a gaze location of the user based on the video content. The gaze location corresponds to one of the representations of an attendee. The computing device then communicates a prompt to one or more of the attendees that indicates the gaze location. In another example, the computing device detects a behavior of the user, e.g., a scanning behavior. Responsive to detection of the behavior, the computing device performs an action within the user interface, such as to display a roster view of the attendees.

Techniques for personalized product recommendations based on an itinerary are described and are implementable to generate a recommendation for a good and/or service based on product data associated with a destination. The described implementations, for instance, enable generation of a recommendation for a user to acquire the good and/or service prior to visiting the destination based on digital content associated with the destination. The described implementations further enable generation of synthetic digital content that depicts the user at the destination with the good and/or service. Additionally, the techniques described herein include a monitoring system that is operable to detect a development related to the destination, and generate an updated recommendation based on the development.

A computing device includes at least one camera system. When the camera application is running, the scene from the at least one camera system is analyzed to identify one or more barcodes in the scene. In some situations, multiple barcodes encoding payment links are identified in the scene. In such situations, for each of the multiple barcodes encoding payment links, the barcode is displayed along with the payment link encoded in the barcode and a description of the payment link (e.g., a name of the digital wallet corresponding to the payment link). Various additional information to help the user select one of the payment links may also be displayed, such as a current balance in the digital wallet corresponding to the payment link, rewards for using the digital wallet, discounts for using the digital wallet, and so forth.

The electronic device receives, from image capturing device(s), local media content including image(s) and/or video(s). The electronic device performs content recognition to identify local object(s) contained in the local media content. The electronic device monitors execution of a media application that accesses remote media content and performs content recognition to identify object(s) contained in the remote media content. In response to determining that remote media content contains object(s) that is also identified in the local media content, stores the remote media content in a data structure in memory. The electronic device uploads, via a communication network to a network storage service, all media content stored in the data structure.

Techniques for user image presentation based on region priority are described and are implementable to enable an image of a user to be inserted into media content. For instance, media content is generated that includes at least one high priority region and at least one low priority region. Further, a user image is captured to be inserted into the media content. Accordingly, the user image is inserted into the at least one low priority region to avoid obstructing high priority visuals displayed within the at least one high priority region.

An electronic device, a method and a computer program product enable capturing of an image by a first camera in response to detecting a gesture by a second camera. The method includes, in response to activating a first camera having a first field of view (FOV) to an image capturing mode, activating the second camera to capture an image stream within a second FOV that is wider than the first FOV. The method further includes monitoring the image stream to detect movements and identifying a gesture among movements detected within the image stream. The method further includes determining that the gesture is associated with triggering the first camera to capture images within the first FOV and in response to determining that the gesture is associated with triggering the first camera to capture images within the first FOV, capturing, via the first camera, a first image within the first FOV.

A method provides techniques for selecting a camera based on light blockage of the camera lens. The method includes monitoring, by at least one processor of an electronic device an amount of light impinging on each of a first lens of a first image capturing device and a second lens of a second image capturing device. The method includes, in response to detecting the blockage of light entering a lens of one of the at least two image capturing devices, and the blockage occurring for a duration exceeding a preset time, setting, as an active image capturing device among the at least two image capturing devices, a selected one of the at least two image capturing devices having a corresponding lens at which the blockage is detected.

The method further includes contemporaneously capturing, via a second camera, a second image containing at least one face, cropping a facial image comprising the at least one face from the second image and superimposing the facial image onto the first image to generate a first composite image.

An electronic system, a method, and a computer program product support wireless communication with reduced distraction for a driver experiencing challenging driving conditions. The method includes communicating, via a communication subsystem of an electronic system and via a communication network, with a first electronic device participating in a communication session with at least one second electronic device, the communication session hosted by the electronic system. In response to determining that the first electronic device is being used by a driver in a vehicle, the method includes: receiving data about the first electronic device that indicates whether current driving conditions allow the driver to communicate without degrading driving performance; and restricting transmission of new communication inputs from the communication session to the first electronic device to reduce distractions to the driver when the received data indicates the driver is potentially in a challenging driving condition.

Image capturing device(s) of the electronic device generates media content of at least one of images and videos. A controller of the electronic device receives the media content from the image capturing device(s). The controller determines a quality value of the media content and stores the media content in a cache data structure in memory. The controller stores, in a digital camera image data structure in the memory, media content having a quality value that is greater than or equal to a minimum quality threshold level. The controller uploads, via a communication network to a network storage service, the portion of the media content stored in the digital camera image data structure.

A monitoring system incorporates, and method and computer program product provide a monitoring system that captures image stream of regions of interest based on identified facial cues of a person. A controller of the monitoring system receives a first image stream that encompasses a face of a person and a second image stream that encompasses surrounding object(s) and surface(s) viewable by the person. The controller detects a facial expression of the face. In response to determining that the facial expression is a mood associated expression, the controller determines, from the first image stream, an eye gaze direction of the person. The controller determines a region of interest (ROI) aligned with the eye gaze direction. The controller captures the second image stream and identifies an object contained within the ROI. The controller communicates a notification including the expression and the object within the ROI to an output device.
