Techniques for generating a recommendation for content based on user-device dialogue are described. In an example, a computer system receives a request for audio output at a user device. The computer system determines a response for the request. The computer system determines a topic and value associated with the request and the response. The computer system also determines a recommendation for content based on the request and the response. The computer system generates prompt data including a question of whether to initiate an action associated with the recommendation. The computer system sends the prompt data and the response data to the user device or a different user device.

Generating content recommendation based on user-device dialogue

An integrated circuit memory cell includes a floating gate, a control gate, and a plurality of inter-poly dielectric (IPD) layers. The IPD layers include an IPD1 layer, an IPD2 layer, and an IPD3 layer, with the IPD2 layer interposed between the IPD1 and IPD3 layers. The IPD2 layer, which may be a nitride, does not flank the floating gate. Thus, no section of the floating gate is laterally between two sections of the IPD2 layer. A system and a method determine network conditions. The system includes a server computer and a client computer. The server computer is configured to transmit data packets comprising a data object from the server computer to the client computer. The client computer includes a transmission latency detector and a transmission bandwidth detector. The transmission latency detector uses transmission time and receipt time values to determine the changes in time it takes selected portions of the data object to be transmitted from the server computer to the client computer. The transmission bandwidth detector uses identified back-to-back data packets to determine the transmission bandwidth between the server computer and the client computer.

A system and method provide random access to a multimedia object over a network. One embodiment of the invention includes a streaming media server that is connected to a client computer over a network. The streaming media server includes at least one multimedia object that is adapted for transmission ('streaming') across the network. A pre-roll calculation program determines a pre-roll for each segment of the multimedia object and generates a modified multimedia object which includes a pre-roll for each of its segments, a pre-roll identifying a portion of the multimedia object to be transmitted by the streaming media server and received by the client computer prior to playback of the multimedia object at a selected segment. The pre-roll allows the client computer to present, starting at a selected segment, the multimedia object in its entirety without interruption. The pre-roll calculation program further facilitates the design of the multimedia object to minimize delays associated with random accesses to segments of the multimedia object.

System and method for providing random access to a multimedia object over a network

A number of digital content rendering modules are equipped such that selective subsets of the modules may be employed to render digital content of different media, and of different format types. The modules are organized into a hierarchy, with a selected one occupying a root position of the hierarchy, to exclusively receive the digital contents to be rendered, and that each module is further responsible for verifying the integrity of its immediate downstream modules, to collectively protect the digital contents being rendered.
