In an embodiment, methods for managing a point of sale (POS) device are provided. A web server may be configured to grant access of a display of the POS device to the user device. The POS device may display a graphical user interface that includes a menu for controlling the display of the POS device. These steps may be in response to a first request. In response to a second request, the POS device may transmit a push notification to the user device. The push notification includes a second menu including a command for controlling an operation of the POS device.

Multi-mode point-of-sale device

In an embodiment, methods for managing a point of sale (POS) device are provided. A web server may receive a request to associate the POS device with a merchant account associated with one or more physical locations. The request may include an identification code of the merchant account. The web server may receive an initialization message from the POS device and the initialization message may indicate a successful login at the POS device. A selected physical location may be received and linked to the POS device based on the identification code of the merchant account and responsive to receiving the selected physical location. An inventory of the selected physical location may then be synced to the POS device.

Method, apparatus and computer program product embodiments are provided for distributing and installing content and settings on client devices without receiving any user input at the client devices, which limit usage of the client device a user at the client device to a first set of the usage activities. A device controller may remotely configure and control client devices by providing instructions and content for distribution to the client devices. The instructions may cause the client devices to install the content on the client devices without requiring any user input to initiate the installation or during installation of the content. The client device may be further configured to allow management of the client device by the device controller.

Disclosed herein are system, method, and device embodiments for zero touch deployment and dynamic configuration. A management server receives a dynamic configuration value for a configuration setting via a configuration service, and generates configuration information including a mapping of a configuration setting to the dynamic configuration value. Further, the management server receives a configuration information request including an identifier associated with a remote client device, and sends the configuration information to the remote client device.

Techniques for processing utterance audio are described. In an example, a computer system determines audio data representing an utterance detected by a device, and generates, based at least in part the audio data, first data representing at least one of portion of the utterance in a frequency domain. The first data specific is to a first frequency range. The computer system determines determining a second frequency range that is a subset of the first frequency range, the second frequency range meeting a frequency threshold, and generates, based at least in part on the first data, second data that represents the at least one portion in the frequency domain. The second data is specific to the second frequency range. The computer system determines, based at least in part on the second data, that additional audio data associated with the device is to be processed.

Detecting utterance in audio

In an embodiment, a point of sale (POS) device is provided. The POS device includes a memory and at least one processor. The processor is configured to perform an authorized set of functions established by an external management module. The authorized set of functions include purchase transaction processing of inventory identified as available to the POS device by the external management module.

Techniques for dynamically adjusting received audio are described. In an example, a computer system receives audio data representing noise and utterance received by a device during a first time interval that has a start and an end. The start corresponds to a beginning of the utterance. The end corresponds to at a selection by the device of an audio beam associated with a direction towards an utterance source. The computer system determines a value associated with an audio adjustment factor. The audio adjustment factor is represented by values that vary during the time interval. The value is one of the values associated with a time point of the first time interval. The computer system generates, based at least in part on the audio data and the value, first data that indicates a measurement of at least one of the noise or the utterance.

Described herein is a system for device arbitration using characteristics of audio data captured by multiple devices. The system determines a feature vector corresponding to each device that captured an audio input, where the feature vector includes the audio energy levels, spectral data corresponding to the audio data and centroid data corresponding to the audio data. The feature vectors are processed using a trained component to select a device for further processing.

Disclosed herein are system, method, and computer program product embodiments for a cloud-based point-of-sale system and a multi-function point-of-sale (POS) device. In an embodiment, the POS device includes an interactive display that switches between a first position oriented towards and for use by an operating clerk, and a second position oriented towards and for use by a customer. The POS device is able to detect the switch between the first position and the second position. A processor in the POS device outputs a first graphical user interface (GUI) on the interactive display in response to detection of the first position and a second GUI in response to detection of the second position. In an embodiment, the components of the POS device are combined together in a unified assembly.

Described herein is a system for device arbitration using acoustic characteristics of a physical space, such as a user's household. The system generates a matrix of inter-device attenuation factors. The inter-device attenuation factors are determined using the attenuation experienced by a first device versus the attenuation experienced by a second device. Once the matrix is generated, an attenuation vector representing the attenuation corresponding to an input audio signal is determined and compared to the matrix. Based on the comparison, the system selects a device for further processing.
