Techniques for improving scheduling request transmission in wireless communications

Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. In some systems, a device, such as an internet of things (IoT) device, may include a configuration or software (e.g., in baseband) that is common for multiple applications of the device. In some aspects, the device may select a setting for at least some if not each of a set of parameters associated with or defining a device profile of the device based on an application of the device. The device may perform a mapping procedure to map the settings for the parameters associated with the device profile to one or more baseband configurations or baseband handles and the device may customize the baseband of the device using the one or more baseband configurations. As such, the device may operate or communicate using the baseband that is customized based on the device profile and application of the device.

Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A communication device, otherwise known as a user equipment (UE) may transmit a data transmission to a receiver. In some examples, the data transmission may be a radio link control (RLC) protocol data unit (PDU) transmission. The UE may store the data transmission in a retransmission buffer, and transmit a feedback request to the receiver in a subsequent data transmission based on a system memory utilization threshold for the retransmission buffer being satisfied due to storage of the data transmission.

A user equipment (UE) may receive, from a base station, a control message indicating a resource configuration for uplink and downlink transmissions. The UE may determine an uplink buffer threshold for a modem buffer of the UE based on the resource configuration. The UE may transmit, to the base station, a feedback request message requesting that the base station provide feedback for at least one previously transmitted uplink packet based on a comparison of an amount of previously transmitted uplink data and scheduled uplink data stored in the modem buffer relative to the uplink buffer threshold. The UE may receive, based on transmitting the feedback request message, a feedback response message corresponding to a first previously transmitted uplink packet of the at least one previously transmitted uplink packet.

In an aspect of the disclosure, a method, a computer-readable medium, and an apparatus are provided. The method for wireless communication at a user equipment may include receiving, by a user equipment (UE), a hybrid automatic repeat request (HARQ) retransmission timer, the HARQ retransmission timer indicates a time interval, identifying, by the (UE), data for uplink transmission, and starting, by the UE and after expiration of the HARQ retransmission timer, a random access procedure to obtain an uplink grant for the data.

Method and apparatus for configuring uplink hybrid automatic repeat request (HARQ) retransmission timer for narrowband communications

Certain aspects of the present disclosure provide techniques for communicating a user equipment (UE)'s capabilities to a network entity, such as a base station. An example method that may be performed by a UE includes transmitting a first message to a network entity, the first message comprising a base identification and a delta flag, wherein the base identification identifies base capabilities of the UE, and wherein the delta flag indicates whether there is delta information to be shared by the UE, the delta information corresponding to changes to the base capabilities of the UE. The method further includes determining whether to transmit a third message to the network entity based on whether the UE receives a second message from the network entity, the second message comprising a full capability flag indicating whether the UE should send an indication of its full capabilities to the network entity.

In one aspect, a method is provided which may be performed by a wireless device such as a user equipment (UE). The method generally includes: performing connection reestablishment in response to a triggering condition, the connection reestablishment comprising: suspending operation of at least one data radio bearer (DRB) for carrying user data, transmitting a connection reestablishment request to a base station (BS), receiving from the BS a connection reestablishment message, and transmitting a connection reestablishment complete message to the BS; and transmitting at least a portion of the user data over non-access stratum (NAS) signaling, before the operation of the at least one suspended DRB is resumed.

Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A user equipment (UE) operating in a narrowband communications system with a base station may identify a radio link failure (RLF) and then initiate a radio resource control (RRC) connection reestablishment procedure to reconnect with the base station. As part of the connection reestablishment procedure, the UE may transmit a reestablishment complete message to the base station to indicate the connection reestablishment procedure is successful and include a measurement report related to downlink signals received from the base station in the reestablishment complete message. In some cases, the measurement report may include an indication of downlink signal strength and downlink signal quality. As such, the UE may transmit the measurement report in a single RRC message after identifying the RLF. Based on the measurement report, the base station may then perform network planning.

An enhanced Public Warning System (PWS) is provided. A User Equipment (UE) transmits a first indication of UE capability for performing a first set of UE actions. The UE receives based on the first indication, a second indication of a second set of UE actions the UE is to perform in response to receiving a warning message, the warning message including an identifier of a warning type associated with the second set of UE actions. The UE receives the warning message including the identifier of the warning type. The UE performs at least one of the second set of UE actions in response to receiving the warning message.
