A coolant control valve is provided that includes an actuator, a rotary valve body, a valve housing, a seal housing, and a movable seal. The rotary valve body is rotatably actuated by the actuator and includes at least one fluid opening. The movable seal is arranged within an annular groove of the seal housing and is: i) sealingly engaged with the annular groove, and ii) forcibly sealingly engaged with the rotary valve body via a force generator. The force generator is arranged radially adjacently to the movable seal within the annular groove.

A coolant control valve includes an actuator, at least one valve body, an outer housing, and a temperature sensor having a first flow state and a second flow state. The first and second flow states can be achieved by first and second axial positions of the temperature sensor.

A coolant control system for a vehicle, including: a coolant control valve including a radiator valve; an actuator connected to the coolant control valve; and a control unit. Upon shutdown of the vehicle: the control unit is arranged to generate a control signal based upon a prediction of an ambient temperature and transmit the control signal to the actuator; and the actuator is arranged to receive the control signal and rotate a portion of the radiator valve according to the control signal.

A coolant control valve (CCV) includes an outer housing, an actuator, a valve body, and one or more thermoelectric generators (TEGs). The outer housing includes at least one inlet and at least one outlet. The TEG is operatively connected to the actuator and can be a lone source of power to the CCV or assist a primary power source. The CCV can utilize a power management device that can receive power input from either the TEG or the primary power source. The TEG has a first surface and a second surface, either of which can be exposed to air or a cooling system fluid or coolant; the coolant can be water, ethylene glycol, a combination thereof, or any other fluid that is utilized in a system that provides temperature management for a component or system.
