Vehicle systems and methods are provided for updating vehicle systems in response to an update event at one of the vehicle systems, such as, for example, an update at a flight management system (FMS) of an aircraft. One method involves the FMS obtaining event data from an external source indicative of an update event, updating flight data at the FMS to an updated state based at least in part on the event data, and then adding the event data to an event queue after updating the flight data at the FMS to the updated state. One or more other vehicle systems can asynchronously retrieve the event data from the event queue and independently update in response to the event data.

Vehicle systems and methods for nonsynchronous redundancy management

A system and method in an aircraft for providing enhanced services is provided. In one example, the method includes: setting up triggering logic to identify a beginning point and ending point for collecting a set of avionics system data during a flight; and systematically retrieving information for use by the triggering logic to identify the beginning point and the ending point. When the beginning point is reached, the method includes systematically repeating: retrieving the set of avionics systems data; and sending, to an off-board application, data from the set of avionics system data that has changed state from prior data sent to the off-board application. When the ending point is reached, the method includes cease sending data from the set of avionics system data to the off-board application.

System and method for providing enhanced services

Embodiments of the present disclosure are directed to a cloud-based vehicle monitoring platform (CVMP) configured to manage events impacting the operation of a plurality of vehicles. An onboard vehicle monitoring system associated with a particular vehicle is communicably coupled to CVMP centralized services and can determine corrective actions to employ to mitigate the events. The corrective actions in some contexts are generated by a rules engine based on a rule set generated by a federated learning model associated with the CVMP centralized services. If the onboard vehicle monitoring system determines that a first set of corrective actions generated based on a first set of rules is unsuccessful at mitigating the events, the onboard vehicle monitoring system can request a secondary set of rules from the CVMP centralized services. Various data recovery operations in some contexts are employed to revert the vehicle from a problem state back into a steady state.

Cloud-based vehicle monitoring platform

Methods and systems for providing platform agnostic flight management data access for a flight management system (FMS) of an aircraft have been developed. First, a configuration file is loaded to a configuration database. The configuration file is for a data format of an external data source from the aircraft. Upon receiving a data access request from a user for external data from the external data source, downloading the configuration file is downloaded to an FMS data formatter. The configuration file is parsed with a data processor component of the FMS data formatter to update a rule set. The FMS data formatter receives an external data file from an application programing interface (API) of the external data source. The external data file is parsed with a rule engine of the FMS data formatter using the updated rule set. A flight plan file is generated with the FMS data formatter using the parsed external data file and sent to the FMS on the aircraft.

System and method for platform agonistic flight management data access

A system includes avionics line-replaceable units (LRUs); a mission manager including application programming interfaces (API); a processing device; and a memory storing one or more machine readable instructions causing the system to: communicatively couple the mission manager to external avionics services via a data gateway to receive updated mission conditions at the mission manager; register one of the avionics LRUs with one of the mission manager APIs; receive, at the mission manager, updated mission conditions from the external avionics services via the data gateway; provide one or more of the one or more updated mission conditions to the registered avionics LRU based on one or more of an updated mission plan and an unexpected update to the mission condition; and control one or more aircraft systems based on one or more of the updated mission plan and the unexpected update to the mission condition.

A flight deck system is configured to: receive a data model populated with flight data obtained while performing a core avionics function; receive configuration information from an external source that identifies a specific plurality of flight data items to extract from the data model; extract from the data model data values for the specific plurality of flight data items identified in the configuration information; generate an optical code that encodes the extracted data values; generate an HMI display that provides a selectable link for causing the optical code to be displayed in the aircraft; cause the HMI display to be display on an aircraft display; and cause the optical code to be displayed on an aircraft display responsive to selection of the selectable link; wherein the optical code provides encoded data values corresponding to the specific plurality of flight data items for decoding and display by a mobile device.

Vehicle systems and methods are provided for assisting operation of a vehicle by automatically updating a secondary display in response to a user input on a primary display. One method involves determining a context associated with the user input on a first graphical user interface (GUI) display based at least in part on current status information associated with the vehicle and a location of the user input on the first GUI display, determining a destination GUI display for receiving a second user input corresponding to the location of the user input on the first GUI display based at least in part on the context, and automatically updating a second GUI display distinct from the first GUI display to the destination GUI display responsive to the user input.

Methods and systems for automated contextual navigation of GUI displays

Methods and systems provide a visual user interface on a display device associated with an aircraft. A Flight Information System (FIS) broadcast report; and an Air Traffic Control (ATC) broadcast message are received. The FIS broadcast report and the ATC broadcast message are transcribed. Ownship data for the aircraft is received. The ownship data concerns at least one of: a state of the aircraft, a flight plan for the aircraft and a state of components of the aircraft. The transcribed FIS broadcast report is analyzed with respect to the ownship data to determine filtered FIS information that is relevant to the ownship. A visual user interface (UI) is rendered to be displayed on the display device. The visual UI includes the transcribed ATC broadcast message and the filtered FIS information.

Systems and methods for transcribing and analyzing broadcast messages in an aircraft

Systems and methods for coordinating with a flight management system (FMS) on-board an aircraft to determine whether a flight plan (FP) change generated by an external device is valid. The method includes generating the FP change, which includes a deviation to the intended FP and a savings parameter associated with a parameter of the intended FP, responsive to weather data and aircraft state data; generating a lateral display showing the intended FP and an alphanumeric window with the FP change; transmitting the FP change to the FMS; receiving, from the FMS, a travel path and a calculated parameter for the travel path, generated by the FMS responsive to the FP change; determining whether the travel path realizes the savings parameter by comparing the calculated parameter to the savings parameter; and, displaying either a selectable graphical user interface (GUI) object to implement the FP change, or a warning based thereon.

Systems and methods to corroborate an externally recommended flight plan change with flight management system

A computer-implemented method may be used for training aircraft operators. The method may include determining a set of recommended flight training topics for a target aircraft operator, and receiving flight data recorded from simulator training performed by the aircraft operator or operation of aircraft by the aircraft operator. Additionally, the method may include analyzing the flight data to determine a proficiency evaluation, the proficiency evaluation being a measure of proficiency of the aircraft operator in one or more training topics, and adjusting the set of recommended flight training topics based on proficiency evaluation.

A system and method of storing and recovering a flight plan includes loading flight plan data into working memory of an aircraft flight management system (FMS). When the FMS determines that a storage triggering event has occurred, a copy of at least a portion of the flight plan data is transmitted from the working memory to a non-volatile storage medium. A display command is supplied to a display device, at least following recovery of the FMS from a severe reset, that causes the display device to render a retrieval prompt. One method involves identifying a reference point in advance of a runway, dynamically determining a gliding vertical trajectory for the aircraft en route to the reference point based at least in part on a current altitude of the aircraft at a current aircraft location and gliding characteristics of the aircraft, and providing a graphical indication of a difference between a predicted altitude of the aircraft at a location corresponding to the reference point resulting from the gliding vertical trajectory and an altitude criterion associated with the reference point. The method comprises: identifying a specific instruction from a received message from ATC; determining, for the specific instruction a location relative to a planned flight path of the aircraft at which the specific instruction should be provided to flight crew; generating, for the specific instruction, a voice message configured to recite the specific instruction; associating with the voice message an actuatable graphical element that is actuatable to cause the voice message to be provided to flight crew; rendering the actuatable graphical element at or near the determined location on a depiction of the planned flight path that is displayed on the graphical display unit; and providing the voice message associated with the actuatable graphical element as an aural message responsive to actuation of the actuatable graphical element.
