Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A first device may select a first beam and a second beam from a set of beams for communicating with a second device. The first device may perform a beam refinement procedure of the first beam to generate a first multicast autonomous beam refinement tree. The first device may determine a trigger for performing the beam refinement procedure of the second beam, and the first device may generate a second multicast autonomous beam refinement tree. The first device may communicate with the second device using the second beam.

Techniques for beam refinement and beam selection enhancement

Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described. In some systems, a wireless device may detect, using a sensor at the wireless device, one or more locations at which human tissue may be present within a coverage area of the sensor. The wireless device may select, from a set of beams, a beam and a corresponding transmit power. The wireless device may select the beam and the corresponding transmit power based on the detection of the one or more locations at which the human tissue is present within the coverage area of the sensor and a radio frequency coverage area of the beam. The wireless device may transmit uplink data using the selected beam and the selected transmit power.

Techniques for beam management using sensor coverage

Various aspects of the present disclosure generally relate to wireless communication. In some aspects, a user equipment (UE) may identify a beam management window based at least in part on one or more downlink traffic parameters satisfying a window opening condition. The UE may perform a beam sweep on a set of beams associated with one or more physical downlink shared channel (PDSCH) demodulation reference signal (DMRS) transmissions that are received during the beam management window. The UE may select, among the set of beams associated with the one or more PDSCH DMRS transmissions received during the beam management window, a beam to use to communicate with a network node based at least in part on one or more metrics associated with each respective beam included in the set of beams. Smart window determination for beam sweep on physical downlink shared channel demodulation reference signal

Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described in which a user equipment (UE) may perform beam measurements for one or more subsets of beams that are selected to provide enhanced beam switch determinations. The UE may identify one or more prioritized beams, and may measure the prioritized beams at a same periodicity as measurements of a serving beam. The UE may, additionally or alternatively, identify a set of all layer one beams (e.g., maximum-level beams or top level beams) for measurement according to a periodic interval, based on a measured mobility being less than a threshold value. The periodic interval may provide that each layer one beam may be measured at a cadence of one beam per measurement occasion, in order to provide measurement diversity.

Techniques for beam selection based on measurement periodicities

Certain aspects of the present disclosure provide techniques for inter-cell measurement and reporting. A method that may be performed by a user equipment (UE) includes sending, to a base station (BS), an indication of one or more capabilities of the UE for inter-cell signal measurements, reporting of the inter-cell signal measurements, or both. The UE may perform inter-cell signal measurement and reporting based on the one or more capabilities.

Inter-cell measurement and reporting for beam management

Certain aspects of the present disclosure provide techniques wireless communication at a first wireless node generally including communicating with a second wireless device using a first beam, detecting at least one condition indicative of receiver saturation at the first wireless device or the second wireless device, and taking at least one action designed to mitigate the receiver saturation after detecting the at least one condition.

The UE may schedule a candidate UE beam or a serving UE beam for the slot or the symbol. The UE may measure a spectral efficiency associated with the P2 resource. The UE may prepare a report that indicates one or more characteristics of the candidate UE beam or the serving UE beam. Numerous other aspects are described.

User equipment beam management

Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described. A user equipment (UE) may select a set of candidate UE beams for measuring channel state information (CSI) reference signal (CSI-RS) based on one or more power measurements for uplink transmissions. The UE may measure multiple synchronization signal blocks (SSBs) using the set of candidate UE beams and select a subset of the selected candidate beams based on the SSB measurements. The UE may measure spectral efficiency via the resource carrying the CSI-RS using the subset of candidate UE beams and select a serving beam from the subset based on the spectral efficiency of each beam. The UE may calculate the power measurements based on a difference between a power threshold and a reference power value for each candidate beam.

Techniques for beam selection with uplink consideration

Various aspects of the present disclosure generally relate to wireless communication. In some aspects, a user equipment (UE) may identify, for each of one or more candidate beams in a set of candidate beams, a downlink throughput, an uplink throughput, a downlink power consumption, and an uplink power consumption. The UE may select a beam based at least in part on: at least one of the downlink throughput or the uplink throughput, at least one of the downlink power consumption or the uplink power consumption, and one or more throughput thresholds. Energy-efficient beam selection

Techniques and apparatus for determining a transmit power limit based on sensor spatial coverage. A method that may be performed by a wireless communication device includes selecting a beam for transmission of a signal, determining a transmit power limit based at least in part on an overlap between the selected beam and a coverage zone of a sensor, and transmitting the signal via the beam at a transmit power based at least in part on the determined transmit power limit.

Transmit power limit based on sensor spatial coverage

A UE may calculate an allocation of a transmission power for a first uplink transmission on a first uplink channel and at least one second uplink transmission on at least one second uplink channel, the transmission power being allocated in each symbol of a plurality of symbols in a slot. The UE may detect a transmission power change in the allocation of the transmission power in the slot for at least one of the first uplink transmission or the at least one second uplink transmission. The UE may determine whether to adjust the allocation of the transmission power for the at least one of the first uplink transmission or the at least one second uplink transmission to eliminate the transmission power change in the slot for the at least one of the first uplink transmission or the at least one second uplink transmission.

Enhanced uplink power control with lookahead

In some aspects, the present disclosure provides methods, apparatuses, and systems for efficient thermal mitigation while maintaining wireless device performance on a primary component carrier (PCC). Embodiments described may include implementation of target transceiver module configurations, where bandwidth (e.g., PCC bands and secondary component carrier (SCC) bands) may be monitored by a wireless device based on intra-module target configurations and/or inter-module target configurations. An intra-module target configuration may include a target transceiver module monitoring both PCC bands and SCC bands. An inter-module target configuration may include or refer to a plurality of target transceiver modules together monitoring PCC bands and SCC bands. In scenarios where operating temperatures exceed temperature thresholds, target transceiver module configurations may be implemented to transition PCC bands, SCC bands, or both, from a PCC-resident transceiver module to another transceiver module to reduce the operating temperatures of concern. Various additional and alternative aspects are described herein.

Thermal mitigation in user equipment having multiple communication modules

In a wireless communication system, a user equipment (UE) may measure synchronization signal blocks (SSBs) to evaluate neighbor cells. A UE configured with multiple potential receive beams may conventionally measure one receive beam per SSB. A UE may improve the speed of receive beam measurements by performing measurements using demodulation reference signals (DMRS) of physical broadcast channel (PBCH) symbols, which occur twice per SSB. The UE may perform a cell search for neighbor cells available to the UE in a synchronized network to determine a number of the neighbor cells and timing information for each of the neighbor cells. The UE may measure one or more receive beams using the DMRs of the PBCHs of SSBs received from the neighbor cells. Each receive beam may be measured during a beam switch time unit including a PBCH symbol from each of the neighbor cells according to the timing information.

Use of physical broadcast channel demodulation reference signal to speed up neighbor cell measurement

Various aspects of the present disclosure generally relate to wireless communication. In some aspects, a user equipment (UE) may configure one or more radio frequency (RF) chains of the UE to communicate using a second radio access technology (RAT) for a length of time. The UE may identify that the length of time satisfies a threshold. The UE may configure the one or more RF chains to the first RAT. The UE may initiate a beam measurement on the first RAT in a number of consecutive measurement occasions based at least in part on the length of time satisfying the threshold. Techniques for beam management during a tune-away

Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications systems are described. A user equipment (UE) may receive, from a network entity, a set of beam-swept synchronization signals associated with a testing procedure for the UE. The UE may select a first beam pair associated with a first antenna module of the UE from a set of multiple beam pairs associated with the received synchronization signals. The UE may receive a first module lock command and a first beam lock command, and may utilize the commands in performing a first set of measurements of the first beam pair at the first antenna module. The UE may receive a first beam lock deactivation command to release the first beam lock command of the first beam pair, and a first module lock deactivation command to release the first module lock command of the first antenna module.
