A non-wearable Personal Emergency Response System (PERS) architecture is provided, having a synthetic aperture antenna based RF interferometer followed by two-stage human state classifier and abnormal states pattern recognition. In addition, it contains a communication sub-system to communicate with the remote operator and centralized system for multiple users' data analysis. The system is trained to learn the person's body features as well as the home environment. The decision process is carried out based on the instantaneous human state (Local Decision) followed by abnormal states patterns recognition (Global decision). The system global decision (emergency alert) is communicated to the operator through the communication system and two-ways communication is enabled between the monitored person and the remote operator. In some embodiments, a centralized system (cloud) receives data from distributed PERS systems to perform further analysis and upgrading the systems with updated database (codebooks).

System and method for implementing personal emergency response system based on UWB interferometer

A way of optimizing communication by minimizing the momentary overall radiated energy under constraints in respect to coverage and maintenance of communication with the users, is provided herein. Channel parameters are estimated from downlink and/or uplink communications or from user equipment messages and desirable gain factors are derived from the minimization. The optimization is reiterated continuously to dynamically adapt the communication system to varying conditions.

Assigning dynamic gain factors to coordinate distributed radio units

A communication system architecture is provided, having an aggregator, arranged to centralize the access units and coordinate the radio signals of access units of different types digitally, and remote radio units configured to be modularly connectable to different types of radio elements that correspond to the access units and arranged to communicate with the aggregator digitally. Radio signals are scheduled and delivered with respect to the types of the access units and of the radio elements, and the aggregator is further arranged to handle distribution and combining of the radio signals digitally. The aggregator further comprises a controller arranged to continuously optimize communication with respect to the access units and user mobile communication devices by applying a decision process to cost functions that depends on communication parameters to derive specified dynamically changing parameters, and to manage the aggregator dynamically with respect thereto.

Coordinated digital radio distribution architecture

Provided herein is a dynamically coordination of a distribution of radio signals via distributed remote radio units, with respect to changing numbers and locations of user equipment. A distributing and combining unit combines uplink radio signals from the remote radio units and distributes downlink radio signals from the access unit according to dynamically changing specified criteria. A measurement unit measures performance indicators of the communication between the remote radio units and the mobile communication devices into a matrix of performance indicator values, calculates cost functions therefrom and generates output execution parameters by applying a decision process based on the calculated cost function. Communication criteria are dynamically updated according to the generated output execution parameters and the process is continuously iterative. The invention allows incorporating 'smart' capabilities into legacy networks without any major physical changes of the network.

Coordinating distributed radio via remote units

The today's mobile handheld and portable devices become slim and thin while need to communicate with other devices and accessories that are attached or at very short range. The interface (contact based physical connector) becomes a real challenge and unreliable to the consumer that needs to attached and detach its device several times a day. It is an object of the present invention to provide system and method of replacing a contact based physical interface (connector) with very short range wireless (contactless) interface. This technique is called 'contactless virtual connector' or CVC. The method of the present invention is based on a transmission of a very low power and wideband RF signal. The new innovating mechanism replaces the traditional physical connector with new radiated signal technique that consumes very low power and may be cost competitive with the today's physical connectors. The innovated contactless technology may be used for small flexi-cable replacement in the handheld devices as flip or slider based handheld devices. Although the contactless technique is a wireless based solution, yet, the link may be well secured at the Physical layer when the near-field technique is used.
