A sensor system comprises a LiDAR unit, a camera for visible light and a cover through which light arrives at the LiDAR unit and the camera. The cover comprises a layer containing dyes. The light transmission of the cover in the range from 380 nm to 780 nm is 3% to 25% and in the range from 380 nm to 1100 nm is 40% or more. The attenuation of the LiDAR signal by the cover is such that at least 65% of the original signal intensity reaches the LiDAR detector. The layer containing dyes contains a composition comprising i) at least 70% by weight of a transparent thermoplastic polymer, ii) at least one green and/or red dye and iii) at least one red and/or violet dye. The product of the sum of the weight % fractions of dyes ii) and iii) and the thickness of the layer containing dyes is 0.041 to 0.12 wt % mm. Finally, the composition contains 0% to 0.0005% by weight of IR absorbers.

Surroundings sensor with a movable deflection apparatus for motor vehicles

The invention relates to a vehicle utilizing a LiDAR sensor system for driver assistance systems. A composition consisting of a thermoplastic material based on polycarbonate is used here for forming the substrate layer of a cover for the sensor with respect to the surroundings. The cover has a polysiloxane-based topcoat layer comprising a combination of organically modified silane with a silica sol, the silicon dioxide having a d90 particle size of less than 0.50 micron, in order to achieve high abrasion resistance and weathering stability.

The invention relates to transparent multilayer structures and glazings or glazing elements comprising said multilayer structures, which are suitable for screening an indoor space from a radiation source, comprising, in this order a) optionally a protective layer a, b) a substrate layer based on a thermoplastic polymer, especially an aromatic polycarbonate, having a luminous transmittance in the range of 380 to 780 nm of at least 0.3%, determined at a layer thickness of 4 mm according to DIN ISO 13468-2:2006 (D65, 10&#xb0;), and a TDS value of less than 40%, determined according to ISO 13837:2008 at a layer thickness of 4 mm, the substrate layer containing at least 0.001 wt. % of an IR absorber different from carbon black, c) if necessary, another layer c based on a thermoplastic polymer with a maximum thickness of 600 &#x3bc;m, d) at least one metal layer d, containing at least one element selected from the group including Ag, Al, Au, Pt, Fe, Cr, Sn, In, Ti, Pd, Nb, Cu, V or their alloys, the sum of thicknesses of all metal layers being 1 nm to not more than 30 nm, and e) optionally a protective layer e, at least 60% of the substrate layer b being covered by metal layer d, the layers following layer d, including the protective layer e, when added up, having a thickness of not more than 100 nm and the metal layer being applied to the side of the substrate layer b designed to be on the face of the multilayer structure facing away from the radiation source.

Transparent multilayer structure for thermal management

The invention relates to the use of branched aliphatic hydrocarbons such as squalane in compositions based on thermoplastic polymer, in particular on polycarbonate, which are used for producing molded parts used in LED lighting units, such as covers for instance. According to the invention it has been found that the use of branched aliphatic hydrocarbons makes it possible to enhance the total transmission and the transmission in the range from 360 to 460 nm, thus making corresponding compositions particularly suitable for producing molded parts for use in combination with white LED light sources. It has additionally been shown that yellowing and haze are simultaneously reduced.
