A system and method are disclosed for monitoring, controlling and reducing power in electronic devices and appliances, specifically the standby or vampire power. The system includes a central controller and one or more power switch routers (PSR). The one or more PSRs are networkable and the controller and one or more PSRs communicate by a wireless connection. The central controller and the one or more PSRs may be coupled in a network, where the network may be either a star network or a mesh network, or a combination of a star and mesh network. The resulting network is a scalable AC power switch network that may be remotely or locally controlled with advanced metering telemetry. To reduce vampire power, the PSRs are able to accurately measure the power consumption, measuring the neutral power line, and communicate information to the central controller.

A Fault Tolerant Dial Router (FTDR) includes redundant subsystem resources that operate independently of telephone line interface connections. The redundant resources are switched active when a failure is detected in an activated dial router subsystem. Switching out subsystem failures is fully automated under software control, providing uninterrupted service to users with limited performance loss. The FTDR includes a switching mechanism that selectively switches out the telephone interfaces or other subsystem resources inside the dial router box detected as having failures. The subsystem resources include line framers, controllers and modem modules.

Failure tolerant high density dial router

Provided is a system and method for reliably processing changes in signaling bits for telecommunication transmitted over a network. The system includes a plurality of framer farms adapted to generate a corresponding plurality of event signals responsive to a corresponding plurality of signaling events. An event manager is adapted to sequence the plurality of event signals. The plurality of framers is adapted to receive a corresponding plurality of digital signals, extract therefrom corresponding signaling data, and generate a corresponding event signal responsive to the signaling data. A signaling queue is adapted to queue the signaling data and a signal register is adapted to read the signaling queue. The event manager includes an event queue adapted to queue the plurality of event signals, a status register adapted to maintain a status of the event queue, and an event register adapted to read the event queue. The event manager further includes a queue depth register adapted to indicate a number of event signals received at the event queue and a maximum queue depth register adapted to indicate a maximum number of event signals capable of being received at the event queue. A partially full register is adapted to indicate a fraction of the maximum number of event signals capable of being received at the event queue. The status register includes a queue full field, an almost full field, an overrun field, and a queue empty field adapted to maintain a status of the event queue.

Scalable system and method for reliably sequencing changes in signaling bits in multichannel telecommunication lines transmitted over a network

In a digital switch, incoming cells are placed into a queue in a cell memory. The switch maintains various cell queues, including VC queues that correspond to individual connections and QBin queues that correspond to various classes of service. Cells may arrive to a VC queue or a QBin queue but will depart from a QBin queue. Accordingly, cells may be moved from VC queues to QBin queues. Cells are serviced according to the use of QBin Groups. A QBin Group (QBG) includes a number of logical queues (QBins) of cells to be transported in the digital network. After a QBG is selected, one of its logical queues is selected for servicing. The QBG may be selected by examining all of the QBGs to find an eligible QBG which is most overdue for service. A QBin of the selected QBG may then be selected by examining each of the QBins comprising the selected QBG to find the most overdue for service. The QBGs may correspond to virtual interfaces.
