An apparatus has connectors to receive batteries. A power multiplexer is connected to the connectors. A processor is connected to the power multiplexer to execute a battery charge protocol including the operations of selecting at least one battery for charging, where the at least one battery is in a fast charge state that allows for substantially linear charge performance. Direct current is applied to the battery until the fast charge state is terminated. The selecting and applying operations are repeated until the fast charge state is terminated in each of the batteries. Direct current is then directed to the batteries until a full charge state is reached for each of the batteries.

Systems and methods for providing electrical power from an electrical outlet. In some embodiments, an electrical outlet for providing high voltage power to a device includes power input terminals for connection to a high voltage power source, and at least one power output socket configured to receive a plug configured to receive high voltage power. The outlet may also include a shock-proof circuit connected to the at least one power output socket, a communication circuit configured, and a processor coupled to the communication circuit and the shock-proof circuit, the processor and the shock-proof circuit collectively configured to determine when to provide high voltage power to the at least one power output socket based on a sensed condition, and the processor and the communication circuit collectively configured to communicate information relating to an operation aspect of the electrical outlet with a remote computing device.

Systems and methods for modular shock proof electrical outlets

First, a user may select an illumination color for a bezel framing a display of an electronics device. Second, the illumination of a digital picture frame may be established based on sensed motion nearby and/or ambient light. Third, the color of a user interface presented on a display can be established to match the color of the room in which the display is disposed, as indicated by colorimetry from a camera.

An identity of a person proximate to a display device is determined by an identity profile controller. The identity profile controller determines whether a configured viewing profile exists for the person. Upon determining that the configured viewing profile exists for the person, the identity profile controller instructs a bezel display controller to display a profile identifier associated with the configured viewing profile via a two-dimensional light-emitting diode (LED) array located within a bezel of the display device outside of the display area of the display. The identity profile controller automatically adjusts display device settings for the display device based upon the configured viewing profile. This abstract is not to be considered limiting, since other embodiments may deviate from the features described in this abstract.

A bezel for a TV display has two or more bezel elements, one being more diffusive of light from a source juxtaposed with the bezel assembly than the other element. One element can laterally border the other element or one element can be directly behind the other. More than two bezel elements may be used.

When a person arrives home with his mobile phone, the phone sends a presence signal via Bluetooth to the TV system in the home, which enables a telephone feature in which phone calls to the phone are relayed to the TV system. The remote control associated with the TV has a microphone and speaker so that a person can use the RC not only to control the TV but also to respond to phone calls, with the TV system relaying voice signals from the RC back to the phone.

A switching module, system and method facilitate communications between one or more non-CEC enabled devices and a television of an audio/visual (A/V) system. The switching module is able to accommodate both Consumer Electronic Control (CEC) enabled and non-CEC enabled devices for communication with the television. In response to user control of a user interface of the switching module, when a non-CEC enabled device is coupled to the switching module, a high definition multimedia interface (HDMI) input port of the HDMI switching module is selected and a default HDMI device type and corresponding HDMI logic address is set for the non-CEC enabled device. This information is displayed for the user by the television.

A processor, such as a TV processor, determines which one of at least two audio-video components is sending signals to a TV for display. Based on the determining act, the processor establishes a color of a bezel of the TV.

Bezel color coordination

A color calibration system includes a visual display terminal (VDT), a color calibration sensor optically coupled to the VDT, and a computer processing unit (CPU) electrically coupled to the VDT and the color calibration sensor. The VDT has a display screen and a plurality of color channels, each color channel having an intensity input, a bias input, and a gain input. The VDT produces an image on the display screen responsive to the intensity input. The color calibration sensor provides values responsive to the chromaticity and luminance of a test patch portion of the image on the display screen. The CPU performs calibration of the VDT including setting the bias of each color channel to reduce the difference between a target black point and the test patch with the intensity input at a minimum value for each color channel.

A block of foam is wrapped with a conductive foil to replace a metal spring used to both support and ground an electrical component in an electronic device. In particular, the foam block wrapped in foil may be used to support a video board in a display device while grounding the EMI shielding on the board and related components.
