A dynamic vision sensor (DVS) including a plurality of substrates electrically connected to one another and stacked vertically includes a photoelectric conversion device configured to generate charges in response to incident light from an external environment that is external to the DVS sensor, a bipolar junction transistor (BJT) device including a base connected to the photoelectric conversion device and configured to output a current based on amplifying a current output from the photoelectric conversion device, and a DVS pixel circuit that detects a change in intensity of the incident light and to output an event signal based on the current. The photoelectric conversion device is on a first substrate among the plurality of substrates. At least part of the DVS pixel circuit is on a different substrate from the first substrate among the plurality of substrates.

Dynamic vision sensor in low light environment and the operating method thereof

A pixel of a vision sensor includes a photoelectric converter configured to convert an optical signal into a current, a current-to-voltage converter configured to convert the current into a first voltage, an amplifier configured to generate an output voltage by amplifying a voltage level of the first voltage, at least one comparator configured to identify whether an event occurs based on comparing the output voltage with at least one threshold voltage, and generate an event signal based on identifying that the event occurs, and at least one counter configured to receive the event signal from the at least one comparator, obtain a count value by counting the event signal as information about an amount of change in illumination, and transmit output data comprising the count value.

An electronic device includes a light source, a light sensor, and a controller that senses an amount of a coarse ambient light by turning off the light source and performing sensing in a coarse mode by using the light sensor and senses an amount of a fine ambient light by performing sensing in a fine mode by using the light sensor. The controller senses an amount of a target light by turning on the light source and performing sensing by using the light sensor while the light source emits a light, and outputs information based on the amount of the coarse ambient light, the amount of the fine ambient light, and the amount of the target light.
