A wellbore patching system includes a radially expandable tube member including a sheet wrapped in a spiral. The sheet includes a first circumferential edge and a second circumferential edge opposite the first circumferential edge and coupled to the first circumferential edge. The radially expandable tube member includes a hollow interior. The wellbore patching system includes a deployment tool including: a tool body; and a restraining device coupled to the tool body and configured to prevent radial expansion of the tube member when the tool body is positioned within the hollow interior of the tube member and the restraining device is applied to the tube member. The first circumferential edge is bent to form a first hook, the second circumferential edge is bent to form a second hook, and the first circumferential edge is coupled to the second circumferential edge by the first hook engaging the second hook.

Expandable wellbore loss control patch

A test fixture includes a cylindrical main body extending in a longitudinal direction that receives a test piece. The main body includes a cylindrical screen filter with a mesh surface that extends in along a longitudinal axis coincident with an axis of the main body. The mesh surface generates a filter cake when particle-entrained fluid is supplied through the mesh surface and the particulate is retained on the mesh surface. The main body also includes an offset shaft that extends in the longitudinal direction along an offset axis that is offset from the axis of the main body, and the test piece extends through the offset shaft and the interior of the screen filter. The main body further includes a bearing that decouples rotational motion of the offset shaft from the end cap. Additionally, the test fixture includes an actuator that dislodges the test piece from the filter cake, a computer that determines the dislodging force, and a reservoir pump that pumps the particle-entrained fluid into the screen filter. When the alignment wheel is actuated, the offset shaft forces the test piece to move from a first position where a longitudinal axis of the test piece is coincident to the longitudinal axis of the screen filter to a second position in which the axes are offset.

Differential sticking test fixture

An autonomous inflow control device includes a body defining a cavity. An inlet is in fluid communication with the cavity. The inlet receives well fluids. A deflection surface within the cavity deflects the well fluids at an angle based on a predetermined fluid property range of the well fluids. An influx outlet is in fluid communication with the cavity. An actuation device is disposed in the cavity and based on the angle the well fluids deflect off the deflection surface, the actuation device moves between an open position and a closed position. In the closed position, the actuation device covers the influx outlet. In the open position, the actuation device exposes the influx outlet to direct a volume of water from the well fluids out of the cavity. An outlet is in fluid communication with the cavity to direct the well fluids out of the cavity.

Methods and systems for differentiating different types of fluids in a fluid stream

An apparatus for downhole electrical connection includes: a heater adapted to convert electric energy to thermal energy to liquefy a piece of electronically conductive material; a first electrical circuitry connected to the heater and a power source; a first assembly in which a first connector is disposed; and a second assembly in which a second connector is disposed. The apparatus is configured to: deploy the first assembly and the second assembly in a tubing in a wellbore; mechanically mate the first connector and the second connector; control the electric energy provided from the first electrical circuitry to the heater; electrically connect the first connector and the second connector by soldering the first connector and the second connector with the piece of electronically conductive material; and electrically disconnect the heater from the first electrical circuitry after the soldering.

Method and apparatus for creating downhole electrical connections

Tool for manipulating a target with combustion products

A system including a plug with a first end connected to a lower drill string and a second end connected to an upper drill string. The plug further includes a sealing element configured to seal against a reservoir pressure that is downhole from the plug, and an anchoring element configured to releasably couple the plug to a wellbore to disallow an axial movement of the plug in the wellbore. The plug is configured to couple to a retrieving tool. The retrieving tool includes a first engagement element configured to release the anchoring element, thereby allowing axial movement of the plug and retrieval of the upper drill string in order to shut in the wellbore.

Method and system for suspending a drill string and isolating a wellbore

An evaporative cooler for cooling drilling fluid includes a flow pipe having an inner surface in contact with drilling fluid and an outer surface in contact with an evaporative medium. The flow pipe has a serpentine configuration within a transportation frame. A system for cooling a drilling fluid includes a mud circulation system connecting the drilling fluid between a well and a surface where an evaporative cooler is coupled to the mud circulation system and has a serpentine flow pipe in a transportation frame. A method includes pumping heated drilling fluid from a wellbore to an evaporative cooling system, with an evaporative cooler to cool the heated drilling fluid, and sending the cooled drilling fluid back to the wellbore. Another method includes using an intermediate cooler, wherein the intermediate cooler comprises a heat exchanger and an intermediate fluid.

A system includes production tubing, a Y-tool, and a downhole tool. The Y-tool is installed within the production tubing and splits the production tubing into a first section, a second section, and a third section. The downhole tool is configured to be run through a conduit of the first section of the production tubing and configured to be installed within the production tubing. The downhole tool includes a valve assembly, a seal stack, and a locking mechanism. The valve assembly is configured to hydraulically connect either the second section of the production tubing or the third section of production tubing to the first section of production tubing. The seal stack is configured to mate with a seal bore of the second section of the production tubing. The locking mechanism is configured to mate with a lock profile of the second section of the production tubing.

A drilling tractor tool in a drill string includes a rotating mandrel having an engagement part configured to rotate with the drill string; and a static sleeve disposed on the rotating mandrel configured to remain stationary during rotation of the rotating mandrel. The static sleeve includes a plurality of pockets that form a pathway from an interior of the static sleeve to an exterior of the static sleeve. The drilling tractor tool includes a plurality of force applicators each disposed in a respective pocket of the plurality of pockets of the static sleeve. The plurality of force applicators configured to extend through the respective pocket and apply a forward thrust to the drill string when extended. The engagement part of the rotating mandrel is configured to contact and cause to extend each of the plurality of force applicators respectively as the rotating mandrel rotates.

Drilling tractor tool

A system and method detect an evolving sinkhole due to displacement and pose changes of a plurality of nodes distributed geographically. The system comprises a base station, a plurality of nodes, and a user device. The plurality of nodes are distributed geographically, with each node secured into the ground on the Earth's surface. A sensor senses a state of the nodes relative to the ground, including a displacement and pose changes of the nodes relative to the ground. The sensed states of the nodes used to generate a geophysical map of the ground, including the displacement and the pose change of at least one node due to an evolution of a sinkhole. An output device is configured to display the geophysical map and the sinkhole to a user.

System and method for detecting a sinkhole

A method of removing material from a target is described. The method comprises the steps of providing a tool, the tool having at least one propellant source; pressurising the tool to a pressure higher than the environmental pressure; igniting at least one of the propellant source(s) to form a combustion zone; and directing combustion products generated at the combustion zone along at least one tool flow path. The tool flow path(s) is selectively openable or closable, such that upon exiting the tool flow path(s) the combustion products interact with a target, the interaction causing material to be removed from the target.

A system includes an upper connection having a ring shape with an external surface, where upper splines are formed on the external surface and the upper connection is fixed to the upper section. A self-retaining shear pin tool and methods for connecting downhole tubulars in a wellbore are disclosed. The self-retaining shear pin tool includes a cap having an inner side and an outer side opposite the inner side, the cap defining a first recess formed in the inner side of the cap, the first recess of the cap having a cylindrical portion and a frustoconical portion extending from the cylindrical portion towards the outer side of the cap, and a shear pin disposed partially in the first recess of the cap and extending out of the first recess of the cap. The shear pin includes a body, a first recess extending inward from a first end of the body, a second recess extending inward from a second end of the body, a first swage, and a second swage die.
