An apparatus for driving a motor includes motor circuitry and neural network circuitry. The motor circuitry is configured to generate, based on an error compensated rotor angle and current at a plurality of phases of the motor, a d-axis instant current value and generate a d-axis instant voltage value based on the d-axis instant current value. The motor circuitry is further configured to generate voltage at the plurality of phases based on the d-axis instant voltage value. The neural network circuitry is configured to generate a rotor angle offset based on an instant rotor speed at the motor. The neural network circuitry has been trained to generate the rotor angle offset to minimize the d-axis instant voltage value for each of a plurality of rotor speeds at the motor. The error compensated rotor angle is based on the rotor angle offset.

Rotor angle error compensation for motors

A device for connecting a first network comprising a first energy storage element and a second network comprising a second energy storage element includes switching circuitry and pre-charging circuitry. The switching circuitry is configured to electrically couple the first network and the second network. The switching circuitry comprises a first switching element configured to bi-directionally allow current between the first network and a center point node when operating in a closed state. The switching circuitry further comprises a second switching element configured to bi-directionally allow current between the second network and the center point node when operating in a closed state. The pre-charging circuitry is configured to limit current to the center point node when a first voltage at the first energy storage element equalizes with a second voltage at the second energy storage element.

Pre-charging using center point node

A controller for controlling a multi-phase motor is described. The controller may be configured to drive a first virtual multi-phase motor in an active mode and drive a second virtual multi-phase motor in a passive mode. In the active mode, at least a portion of a reference torque is distributed to the first virtual multi-phase motor. In the passive mode, zero torque is distributed to the second virtual multi-phase motor.

Multi-phase machine current control

A controller for controlling a multi-phase motor is described. The controller may include a torque control module and a current control module. The current control module may be configured to receive a reference current from the torque control module, determine a reference voltage, determine a flux correction value based on the reference voltage, a maximum available voltage, and a speed of the multi-phase motor, and output the flux correction value. The torque control module may be configured to receive the flux correction value and update the reference current based on the flux correction value.
