Technologies are described herein for providing dynamic adjustment of select elements of a document. In some configurations, when a command for scaling a document is received, technologies described herein selectively resize elements of the document and then apply a rendering scale factor to the document. For example, a computing device may render a document having an element, such as a table, and other elements, such as text and images. Upon receiving a command to apply a rendering scale factor to the document, techniques herein determine at least one dimension of the element based on the rendering scale factor. The document including the element with the at least one dimension is then rendered based on the rendering scale factor. By dynamically adjusting one or more dimensions of select elements, the layout of the document may be preserved even when a user zooms into or out of the document.

Dynamic adjustment of select elements of a document

One or more techniques and/or systems are disclosed for processing vector-based information for an image. From a set of pixels that comprises the image, a first subset of one or more pixels that are used in a raster representation of an element in the image, such as pixel values used to render the image, is identified. A first operation is performed in parallel for the respective one or more pixels in the first subset, such as by evaluating a batched first subset of pixels using stacked instruction for the first operation. The first operation comprises instructions for at least a first portion of a function for generating an image pixel value used to represent the element in the image.

Parallel processing of pixel data

Metadata based enhanced search capabilities are provided in conjunction with e-reader experience. Metadata associated with content and objects within displayed content is created based on default and/or custom rules. The metadata such as attributes, tags, etc. is indexed and used to augment search queries based on selected portions of the displayed content. Additional search augmentation is performed based on user-defined metadata or processing of objects such as image recognition of image objects and similar processes.

An e-reader application preserves formatting of a selection through a snippet. The application determines a format of a portion of content in response to a user action selecting the portion. The formatted portion is stored in the snippet. The source code of the portion is extracted from the content and stored in the snippet to preserve its format. The snippet is displayed in a navigation pane using the format. The snippet is resized according to the defined format to fit available space in the navigation pane. The application is enabled to navigate to a location of the portion within the content in response to detecting another selection activating the snippet.

Preserving formatting of content selection through snippets

One or more techniques and/or systems are disclosed for high fidelity conversion of a document to a less rich format. A bounding area can be identified in the document that comprises an unsupported element, and/or a blending of elements that is not supported in the less rich format. The bounding area that comprises the unsupported element(s) can be rasterized, by creating an image and identifying raster data for the image. Those elements in the document that are outside the bounding area are not rasterized, and their vector data-based format is retained in the converted document.

Conversion of a document while retaining a format of an element of the document

Embodiments provide for systems, methods, and computer program products for optimizing content rendered at a display unit by dynamically formatting the content layout based on a display unit's parameters. For example, content is received from a server. The content is capable of being rendered at a number of remote display devices with various display parameters. In addition, a number of display rules are also received. The display rules specify how content should be rendered in terms of content layout and properties by the remote display devices based on the parameters of the display devices. The display rules are compared with the parameters of a display device that is used to render the content. Based on the comparison, at least one of the display rules is applied such that the layout of the content on the display device is optimized for the particular parameters of the display device.

Dynamic optimization of available display space

Providing high frame rate image rendering using multiple image layers per frame. A plurality of image layers having different resolutions are arranged in order of increasing resolution. Beginning with the image layer having the lowest resolution, the image layer is upsampled to a resolution of a next image layer having a higher resolution. The upsampled image layer is blended with the next image layer. The upsampling and blending continues for each of the image layers to produce a blended image. The blended image is provided for display as a frame of video. Aspects of the invention produce a high-resolution composite image during animated navigation across zoom and pan states.

Multi-layer image composition with intermediate blending resolutions

One or more techniques and/or systems are disclosed for converting an unsupported continuous tone image file with an opacity layer to an application supported image. An opacity mask is created from an extracted alpha channel portion of the unsupported image file, where the alpha channel comprises transparency (opacity) information for the image. The unsupported image file can comprise an eight-bit alpha channel that indicates transparency for one or more portions of the image. The remaining channels of the unsupported image, after the alpha channel is extracted, can be used to create an image, which is combined with the opacity mask, to generate a supported image with a transparency layer.

Converting continuous tone images

Queries may be issued against an image store to produce a set of image instance relating to images in the image store that relate to the query. The relevance of the images to the query may be depicted by scaling the image instances according to the predicted relevance of the image to the query. The image instances may be further positioned within the image instance set query result, e.g., by clustering according to image relatedness or by similar predicted relevance of the images to the query terms of the query. The image instances may also be presented as smoothly zoomable images, such that the user may zoom in on the images in an efficient manner that facilitates realtime, gradual zooming with reduced resampling inefficiency.

Image querying with relevance-relative scaling

Functionality for storing and modifying multi-resolution texture atlases is provided so that applications can expose methods to enable users to access and browse a collection that includes multiple multi-resolution images. The images are stored as thumbnails in a texture atlas having different levels of detail in which the levels are arranged in an image pyramid that includes multiple tiles that are each stored as separate files. The thumbnails are spatially storable as textures in the texture atlas using a fractal layout (which in one illustrative example is a Morton layout) that enables images to be efficiently packed in the tiles. The fractal layout ensures that no more than one tile stores less than a fully packed texture at each level of detail. The same packing order scales across each level of detail in the texture atlas so that layout information is stored for the individual images in the collection only once.

Scalable mutable tiled multi-resolution texture atlases

In accordance with one or more aspects, a variable resolution image is displayed at an initial resolution. The variable resolution image has multiple portions, at least two of which have different resolutions. A request to display one of the multiple portions of the variable resolution image at a higher resolution is received, and a check is made as to whether a higher resolution version of the one portion is available. The higher resolution version of the one portion is displayed if available, otherwise the one portion at the initial resolution is displayed.

Variable resolution images

Converting text may be provided. A user selectable element may be used to select a text. The selected text may include a first text within an electronic document and a second text within an image. The second text within the image may be converted to character information by receiving the image. The image may have image character information and an image type. An aspect of the received image may be adjusted based on the image type. Optical character recognition may be performed on the adjusted image to extract character information. The character information may include characters and corresponding location information for the characters. The extracted character information may be evaluated to improve the recognition quality of the extracted character information as compared to the image character information.

Image text to character information conversion

An image processing system embeds at least one image inside a second image. The images are displayed together as a composite image. The first and second images are each tiled and have image pyramids comprising representations at different resolutions formed for them. The image processing system allows a user to zoom into and out of the embedded image, to a desired depth, using its image pyramid.

Embedding large images within one another

The subject invention leverages a scalable character glyph hash table to provide an efficient means to identify print characters where the character glyphs are identical over independent presentation. The hash table allows for quick determinations of glyph meta data as, for example, a pre-filter to traditional OCR techniques. The hash table can be trained for a particular environment, user, language, character set (e.g., alphabet), document type, and/or specific document and the like. This permits substantial flexibility and increases in speed in identifying unknown glyphs. The hash table itself can be composed of single or multiple tables that have a specific optimization purpose. In one instance of the subject invention, traditional OCR techniques can be utilized to update the hash tables as needed based on glyph frequency. This keeps the hash tables from growing by limiting updates that reduce its performance, while adding frequently determined glyphs to increase the pre-filter performance.
