A system and method for identifying duplicate or similar class instances existing in two or more Common Information Model (CIM) namespaces, accreting them, and thereafter returning a set of class instances and their associated information based on predetermined criteria. In different embodiments of the invention, an abstraction layer is implemented to provide a consolidation namespace operable to aggregate CIM instance data from two or more namespaces into a single namespace. A CIM client management application can then access and search the resulting consolidation namespace for all CIM class instances instead of iteratively browsing individual namespaces. Methods, apparatus and media for modifying information

A method and system are provided for installing software code on a remote information handling system (RIHS) comprising a management access controller (MAC). A remote management station (RMS) is implemented to manage the RIHS by communicating with its MAC over a network connection. The RIHS is initially booted by selecting a virtual media device (VMD) emulating a predetermined physical mass storage device containing a boot file and appearing to be physically attached via the RIHS's USB bus. Once booted, the RMS transfers additional boot files and installation files containing network share information to the MAC. The MAC transfers the files across a USB bus to the RIHS's memory where they are loaded and installed. A network connection is established to a network share comprising software code installation files. The software code installation files are then transferred from the network share to the RIHS for installation.

A MOF file for management information of an information handling system is automatically generated from CIM metadata that represents the configuration of the information handling system and a CIM schema that defines classes of the CIM. A system and method for on-line diagnosing a network interface card (NIC) includes a NIC configuration test module, a NIC communication test module and a test response generator. An information handling system includes a server having a NIC that is able to communicate with a network. The NIC configuration test module detects configuration errors associated with the NIC. The NIC communication test module determines if the NIC can communicate with another server by identifying at least one associated address, sending at least one packet to the associated address and receiving at least one packet from the associated address.
