The invention relates to a method for determining a functional area of an electronic textile (). The electronic textile comprises a textile substrate having a first plurality of conductors (--), a second plurality of conductors (--), and a plurality of capacitors (-), each capacitor comprising a conductor from the first plurality of conductors (--) and a conductor from the second plurality of conductors (--), separated by a dielectric (), the capacitors (-) being distributed across substantially an entire surface of the electronic textile, wherein each capacitor (-) has a capacitance of at least 10 pF. The method comprises, for each of the capacitors, the steps of (a) applying () a voltage between the conductor from the first plurality of conductors associated with the capacitor and the conductor from the second plurality of conductors associated with the capacitor, (b) detecting () an electrical characteristic indicative of a capacitance of the capacitor, (c) evaluating () the detected electrical characteristic, and (d) determining () whether the capacitor is included in the functional area of the electronic textile based on the evaluation. As the method takes advantages of physical characteristics inherent in the electronic textile, such as the capacitors formed between conductors in the electronic textile, no electronic devices need to be arranged on the electronic textile to determine the functional area.

Electronic textile and method for determining a functional area of an electronic textile

A light-emitting electronic textile () comprising: a flexible component carrier () having a plurality of light sources () arranged thereon; and at least one textile light-diffusing member () arranged to diffuse light emitted by the light sources (). The textile light-diffusing member () comprises: a first textile layer () comprising fibers (); a second textile layer () comprising fibers (); and a spacing layer () arranged between the first textile layer () and the second textile layer (), wherein the spacing layer () comprises spacing fibers () that space apart the first and second textile layers, the spacing fibers () being attached to fibers () comprised in each of the first and second textile layers to thereby mechanically connect the first () and second () textile layers with each other.

Light-emitting electronic textile with light-diffusing member

The present invention relates to a flexible modular assembly () comprising at least two flexible electronic modules (and) supported by a textile support (). The two flexible electronic modules and the textile support each comprise a set of electrical conductors. The flexible modular assembly further comprises flexible connectors () for interconnecting two sets of electrical conductors. The flexible modular assembly of the invention is a modular textile assembly for use in large-area applications of electronic textiles.

The present invention relates to a light emitting device () comprising a light emitter () and a support () to which a plurality of protruding fibers () are attached. The light emitter () and the protruding fibers () are arranged to interact with light emitted from the light emitter () so that the light may be diffused. A light-emitting electronic textile () comprising a flexible component carrier () having a plurality of light-sources (-) arranged thereon; a cover textile () arranged to allow passage through the cover textile () of light emitted by the light-sources (-); and a light-diffusing member () arranged between the light-sources (-) and the cover textile (). The light-diffusing member () comprises a layered structure formed by a plurality of light-diffusing layers (---), wherein adjacent light-diffusing layers in the layered structure are spaced apart at least in portions of the light-diffusing member () corresponding to positions of the light-sources (-).

Light-emitting electronic textile with improved light diffusion

The invention relates to an electronic textile comprising a textile substrate having a substrate electrode, and an electronic component having a component electrode. The component electrode is in electrically conductive contact with the substrate electrode via a coupling layer having a directionally dependent conductance so as to preferentially allow an electrical current to flow between the substrate electrode and the component electrode. As the coupling layer does not have to be patterned to prevent the occurrence of parasitic electrical currents, the electrically conductive contact between the substrate electrode and the component electrode has an improved reliability.

Electronic textile

An electronic assembly () for attachment to a fabric substrate () having a conductor pattern (---) on a first side () thereof. The electronic assembly comprises an electronic device (), and at least a first clamping member (). Electronic assembly for attachment to a fabric substrate, electronic textile, and method of manufacturing such an electronic textile

A textile () having a multi-layer warp which includes an upper warp layer () comprising an upper array of conductive warp yarns (---), a lower warp layer () comprising a lower array of conductive warp yarns (---), and an intermediate warp layer () arranged between the upper () and lower () warp layers. The textile further includes a weft in which a first set of conductive weft yarns (--) cross the upper array of conductive warp yarns (---), such that electrical contact is achieved there between, and a second set of conductive weft yarns (--) cross the lower array of conductive warp yarns (---), such that electrical contact is achieved there between. The second set of conductive weft yarns (--) form loops () around non-conductive warp yarns in the upper () and intermediate () warp layers, each of the loops () providing a first upper layer connection point (-) for enabling connection of an electronic device (-) between the first upper layer connection point (-) and a second upper layer connection point ().

Textile for connection of electronic devices

A submount for arranging electronic components on a substrate is provided. The submount comprises a head member and at least one substrate-engaging member protruding from the head member. The head member comprises at least two, from each other isolated, electrically conductive portions, where each electrically conductive portion comprises a component contact, adapted for connection of electronic components thereto, and a substrate contact on arranged on said substrate side, adapted for bringing said electrically conductive portions in contact with a circuitry comprised in said substrate. The submount of the present invention may be used to attach electronic components, such as light-emitting diodes, to a textile substrate, without the need for soldering the electronic component directly on the substrate.

Submount for electronic components

The invention relates to a light emitting device comprising a light emitting element () and a light guide () arranged on a textile substrate (). The light guide has a back surface () facing the textile substrate, a front surface () facing away from the substrate, and a light receiving surface (). The light emitting element () is arranged such that at least part of the light emitted by the light emitting element () is coupled into the light guide () through the light receiving surface (), and is subject to total internal reflection in the light guide (). Furthermore, the light guide () is arranged such that at least part of the light coupled into the light guide () exits the light guide () through the front surface () and/or the back surface (). By arranging a light guide in conjunction with a light emitting element, the emitted light is distributed within the light guide and exits the light guide from an area that is larger than that of the light emitting element. Hence, a larger portion of the textile substrate can be made luminous without the need for using a more dense pattern of light emitting elements.
