A medical device for tissue ablation may include a catheter shaft, an expandable member disposed on or coupled to the catheter shaft, and a plurality of elongate electrode assemblies each constructed as a flexible circuit. The expandable member may be configured to shift between an unexpanded configuration and an expanded configuration. The plurality of electrode assemblies may be disposed on an outer surface of the expandable member. Each of the plurality of electrode assemblies may include a temperature sensor aligned with two or more electrodes.

Medical devices and methods for making and using the same are disclosed. An example device may include an expandable balloon including an outer surface. At least one flexible circuit may be mounted on the outer surface of the expandable balloon. The at least one flexible circuit may include a first insulating layer, at least one heat sensing device positioned at least partially within the first insulating layer, a conductive layer above the first insulating layer, at least a portion of which is electrically coupled to the heat sensing device, a second insulating layer above the conductive layer, and at least one electrode associated with the conductive layer.

Medical devices and methods for making and using the same are disclosed. An example device may include a catheter extending along a longitudinal axis. A balloon may be coupled to an end of the catheter. The balloon having a plurality of cylindrical treatment zones extending along the longitudinal axis in an expanded state. A plurality of electrode assemblies may be coupled to the balloon. Each electrode assembly may include a distal electrode pad and a proximal electrode pad.

Medical devices and methods for making and using the same are disclosed. An example method may include renal-denervation treatment method. The method may include delivering an RF energy treatment to a tissue proximate a renal artery using a catheter assembly of a renal denervation catheter system. The denervation system may include an RF energy generator coupled with the catheter assembly by a controller. The method may also include applying neural activity stimulation to the tissue proximate the renal artery using the catheter assembly, assessing stimulated neural activity response of the tissue using the catheter assembly, and determining a parameter of the RF energy treatment based on the assessed neural activity.

A device and method for defrosting a defibrillation electrode are provided. This includes an automated external defibrillator that is capable of defrosting one or more frozen electrodes. The device is includes a portable housing containing a battery powered energy source and a controller as well as at least a pair of electrodes which are operably coupled to the housing. The electrodes are designed for attachment to the chest of a patient in need of resuscitation and contain a conductive interface medium that has temperature dependent properties. A controller is configured to selectively heat the conductive interface medium by applying limited electrical impulses and raise the electrode temperature to a desired temperature range.

Method and apparatus for defrosting a defibrillation electrode

An Automated External Defibrillator (AED) for delivering therapeutic electrical energy to a patient's heart comprising at least one variable capacitance capacitor having a large positive voltage coefficient such that a given amount of energy can be stored at a lower voltage than a traditional fixed capacitor having an equivalent capacitance. Due to the variable capacitance capacitor's ability to store energy at a lower voltage, initial defibrillation current levels are reduced effectively minimizing the risk of tissue damage caused by high initial current levels. In addition, the use of a variable capacitance capacitor reduces the amount of current decay throughout the discharge cycle as opposed to current AED designs utilizing fixed capacitance capacitors which experience an exponential decline in defibrillation current during the discharge cycle.

Method and apparatus for variable capacitance defibrillation

An installer comprising a supporting structure and a carriage adapted to carry a water bottle. The carriage is mounted on the supporting structure for movement along a path between a loading position in which the carriage is adapted to receive the water bottle and an unloading position in which the carriage is at a higher elevation than in the loading position and inverted with respect to the loading position. A stopper is mounted on the carriage for movement with the carriage between the loading and unloading positions. The stopper is movable between a closed position in which it essentially closes a mouth of the water bottle and an open position in which the stopper is displaced from the closed position. A cam system is carried by the supporting structure and is responsive to the carriage approaching the unloading position for moving the stopper from the closed position to the open position.
