A vehicle interface device (VID) switches to a first vehicle data transmission mode (VDTM) from a prior VDTM based on a trigger for transmitting vehicle data messages (VDMs) and which VDMs have been requested at a vehicle data receptor (VDR). A decreased data transfer rate may result from selecting the first VDTM such that some portions of VDMs received while the VID is operating in the other VDTM are transmitted to the VDR from the VID and other portions of those VDMs are not transmitted to the VDR from the VID. An increased data transfer rate may result from selecting the first VDTM such that some portions of VDMs received while the VID is operating in the first VDTM are transmitted to the VDR from the VID whereas those same portions would not have been transmitted to the VDR from the VID if the VID was still operating in the prior VDTM.

Methods and systems for switching vehicle data transmission modes based on detecting a trigger and a request for a vehicle data message

Methods and systems for providing. In an example, the computing device may be configured to receive vehicle information including identification information of a vehicle and/or information describing condition of the vehicle. The computing device also may be configured to match the vehicle information to content of a vehicle repair database so as to identify repair information relating to the vehicle. The computing device further may be configured to receive geographic information identifying a geographic location relating to the vehicle. The computing device also may be configured to provide, to a communication network, a subset of the identified repair information based on the geographic information. The service advisor may be able to access the subset of the identified repair information on a display device coupled to the computing device.

Methods and systems for providing vehicle repair information

A client and server are operable within a community of clients for transferring vehicle diagnostic data captured from vehicles. The server includes a central library for storing captured vehicle data (CVD) prior to receiving client requests for CVD from the central library to compare to CVD within a client's local library. The client request may include vehicle identification data and client settings so that the CVD provided to the client is from another client configured to the same client settings and from a type of vehicle that matches a vehicle-type identified by the vehicle identification data. Alert requests transmitted by a client or server can be received by a client or a remote alert device to provide notice that another client has requested CVD. CVD can be associated with data tags that reduce the burden in locating the CVD and include data relating to the capture of the CVD.

Method and system for automated and manual data capture configuration

A high efficiency multiple power level amplifier circuit for reducing power consumption during low power operations. A plurality of power amplifier stages are cascaded to provide multiple levels of amplification. At least one power amplification stage includes a signal switching network to allow one or any combination of power amplifiers to be switched out when lower power operations are desired. The switched out power amplifiers are biased such that substantially no current is drawn from the power source.
