A focused treatment tip (FTT) for controlling the evaporation rate and providing targeted delivery of low temperature liquified gases for contact with living tissue includes a contoured body. When filled with liquified gas, the device insulates the gas from waste heat sources, such as the surrounding environment. The device can control the evaporation rate of the liquified gas at the treatment site. The controlled evaporation rate affects the rate of heat transfer from the treated tissue allowing for controlled exposure times and desired outcomes. The device can be used with various application tips to further define the target tissue area to be treated while minimizing collateral damage to surrounding tissue and isolating the gas within the contoured body and focusing heat transfer to the desired treatment area. The device may use transparent materials that make the treatment visible to the operator while the liquified gas is evaporating.

The portable cryosurgical device is economical, easy to use and operate, and delivers cryogenic material such as nitrous oxide and carbon dioxide gas in any direction or orientation. The delivered materials destroy target tissue using extremely cold temperatures and the abrasives formed when the cryogenic material becomes a solid. The device includes a portable countertop enclosure housing a cryogen source, a cryogen flow tube in fluid communication with the cryogen source, and a flow path assembly. The flow path assembly includes a valve between the cryogen source and the cryogen flow tube having substantially zero dead volume. The flow path assembly can include a quick-connect cryogen tank adapter and an in-line cryogen filter. The flow path assembly delivers liquefied compressed gas from the cryogen source to a terminal end of the cryogen flow tube without a phase change occurring in the flow path.

A sample collector and test device is disclosed. The sample collector and test device may be used together as a diagnostic tool for collecting and assay of analytes contained in a sample. A sample collector is also disclosed which may be used with existing sample containers and or test devices. The sample collector may indicate sample adequacy when a sufficient volume of sample has been collected for assay and may also include a sample retaining feature which retains a portion of expressed sample for confirmatory testing, if desirable. The sample collector may also include a mechanism for expressing sample in a sample collector and/or test device. A test device is also disclosed for retaining and assay of an expressed sample. The disclosed test device may be used with existing sample collectors. In a preferred embodiment, test device is used with a preferred sample collector. Test device may include a locking feature for locking a sample retained on a sample collector or test device may be used to receive expressed sample collected from a syringe or another suitable sample delivery device.

A dispensing head for dispensing a cryogenic fluid may comprise a flow passage configured to be placed in flow communication with a reservoir containing a cryogenic fluid, the flow passage defining a flow passage inlet opening configured to receive the cryogenic fluid from the reservoir, and a flow passage outlet opening opposite the flow passage inlet opening. The dispensing head may further comprise a dispensing member configured to dispense the cryogenic fluid, the dispensing member defining a lumen having a lumen inlet opening and a lumen outlet opening; and at least one porous member disposed in the flow passage, the at least one porous member being configured as a primary flow regulation mechanism to limit a flow rate of the cryogenic fluid as it flows from the reservoir to the lumen outlet opening.

Test device

A lateral flow test strip for the analysis of a sample featuring numerous capture zones arranged in an array such that each capture zone is substantially equidistant from the sample containing area. The sample does not pass through another capture zone to reach any one of the other capture zones. The capture zones are preferably arranged in a linear array perpendicular to the flow of the sample through the lateral flow test strip. The lateral flow test strip allows for an increased number of simultaneous analyses of numerous analytes from one sample to occur on one lateral flow test strip.

A composition and method is provided capable of removing contaminants from the surface of a gelatin capsule, such as a paint ball, to allow the gelatin capsules to be used for their intended use. The composition comprising, by weight, about 70 to 99.9 percent of a water-soluble alcohol, about 0.1 to 30 percent water, about 0.1 to 10 percent of a volatile silicone, and about 0.1 to 1 percent of a non-volatile silicone. Furthermore, the composition prevents excessive swelling of the gelatin outer shell of the gelatin encapsulated product. A method is also provided for cleaning a gelatin encapsulated product comprising the steps of contacting the gelatin encapsulated product with a cleaning composition, separating the gelatin encapsulated product from the cleaner, and drying the gelatin encapsulated product. The gelatin capsule may be a paintball. The composition may include additives to improve the performance of the gelatin capsules.
