An automated teller machine (ATM) includes a movable bulk sheet acceptor disposed outside a secure chest, a sheet storage container disposed within a secure chest, and a movable sheet transport to enable sheets to pass from the sheet acceptor to the sheet storage container through an opening in the secure chest. The sheet acceptor and the sheet storage container may be pre-positioned relative to the movable sheet transport in an undocked position, and thereafter moved into operative positions as the sheet transport is docked. A driving gear carried on the sheet acceptor is placed in operative engagement with a gear member located adjacent the sheet transport. Operation of the driving gear is operative to move the components into the operative positions.

Automated transaction machine

An ATM apparatus including a selectively removable sheet storage container supported within the secure chest portion. The sheet storage container is carried on a movable frame for movement into an operational position. The movable frame is movable from an out/down position to enable removal and replacement of the container, to an in/up position to place the container in the operative position. The frame is operatively supported through pivoting arm members for coordinated movement therewith. As the sheet storage container is moved into the operative position, a locking pin of a catch automatically slides into a locking recess to lock the storage container in the operative position and prevent movement of the frame. Upon operation of a lever, the locking pin is released and the frame moves toward the out/down position so that the sheet storage container can be removed and accessed.

An ATM apparatus includes a sheet storage container selectively positionable within the secure chest portion of the ATM. A monitoring mechanism provides audible feedback when the sheet storage container is moved into an operational position. The sheet storage container can be a free-fall container or a stacking cassette.

An automated banking machine includes a mechanism for accepting deposited items. Deposited items can be provided to the machine in envelopes passed out of the machine to a user. An empty envelope in an envelope holding container () is passed through a transport () and presented to the user through an opening (). The user can insert deposit items in the presented envelope. The envelope containing inserted deposited items can then be placed by the user back through the opening (), causing it to be stored in a deposit-holding container (). The machine also includes a printer that can print transaction indicia on a deposited envelope. A wiper comprising a resilient squeegee is able to remove excess ink from nozzles of the printer.

Cash dispensing automated banking machine deposit accepting system and method

An automated banking machine includes a mechanism for accepting deposited items. Deposited items may be provided to the machine in envelopes which are first passed to a user from an envelope storage area () in the machine through a transport () and which are presented to the user through an opening (). An envelope storage and dispensing device () is operative to assure that only a single envelope is delivered to the user. A user may thereafter include deposit items in the dispensed envelope. The deposited items are passed through the opening () and are deposited in a deposit-holding container (). The deposited items may be marked with indicia corresponding to the transaction or properties of the deposited item where the envelope originally dispensed to the user for holding the deposited item.

An ATM apparatus having a bulk sheet acceptor. The sheet acceptor is mounted in movable relation relative to a chest portion of the ATM. Access to an interior of the sheet acceptor for servicing may be made through an access opening. A service cover may be mounted at alternate mounting sites of the sheet acceptor housing in order to close the access opening. The interior of the sheet acceptor may be accessed by pivoting the cover on a set of tabs engaged in corresponding slots, or by selectively lifting the cover away from the tabs. The cover may be replaced by engagement of either a first set of tabs with corresponding first slots, or a second set of tabs with corresponding second slots.

Method of providing an ink catcher in an ATM

An automated banking machine includes a mechanism for accepting deposited items. The automated banking machine includes a shaft and a roller mounted on the shaft. The roller includes a body having a cylindrical opening therethrough. One or more radially inward, axially outward extending deformable fingers adjacent a first end of the opening are adapted to engage an annular recess on the shaft. An annular flat surface adjacent the second end of the opening is adapted to abut a radially outward extending annular step surface on the shaft. The deformable fingers and the flat surface cooperate with the annular recess and the step surface, respectively, to axially position the roller on the shaft. A continuous belt member may be in operative engagement with the roller. A method includes extending the shaft into the cylindrical opening, and moving the shaft relative to the cylindrical opening to engage at least one deformable finger in the annular recess. The method also includes moving the shaft relative to the cylindrical opemng to engage the annular flat surface with the annular step surface.
