Flush control valve

A flush control valve (10) for metering a predetermined amount of flush fluid, or other liquid, to a facility, such as a urinal, to be flushed. The flush control valve (10) has a push button cap (166) that is actuated to cause the primary valve assembly (33) to open and distribute the flush fluid from the inlet chamber (35) of the flush control valve (10) to the outlet chamber (36) of the flush control valve (10). Depressing the push button cap (166) activates a timing assembly (109), the interior working components of which do not come in contact with the flush fluid controlled by the flush control valve (10), thereby eliminating corrosion to that critical portion of the valve (10). The timing assembly (109) is pneumatically operated and is effective through a diaphragm (108) to actuate a pilot valve assembly (83) which controls the opening and closing of the primary valve assembly (33). By virtue of the interaction between the diaphragm (108) and the stem valve element (79) in the pilot valve assembly (83) and the pressure of the flush fluid within the valve (10), and the control effected by a bleeder sub-assembly (130) in metering the flow of pneumatic fluid from a timing chamber (115) to an energizing chamber (120), the timing assemlby (109) is returned to the unactuated disposition at a rate sensitive to the pressure of the flush fluid so that a substantially constant volume of flush fluid is delivered by the flush control valve (10) over a wide range of flush fluid pressures.

Combined ball cock and float

A ball cock and float assembly (10) having a shank portion (11) that is adapted to be insertably received through the inlet opening (13) in the bottom wall (14) of a reservoir tank (12). A support means (50) extends upwardly of the shank portion (11). The support means (50) comprises post means (30) that extend fixedly upwardly from the shank portion (11), and extension means (46) that are telescopically slidable along the post means (30). A lock (42) secures the extension means (46) at a selected position along the post means (30) to provide in gross adjustment in the vertical height of the float assembly (110) that is movable along the extension means (46). A valve (55) is carried by the extension means (46) upwardly of the float means (110). An inlet conduit (52) communicates from the shank portion (11) through the post and extension means (30, 46) to the inlet port ( 54) of the valve means (55). A discharge conduit (53) communicates from the outlet port (62) of the valve (55) through the support means (50) and opens (at 40) into the reservoir tank (12). A siphon-break chamber (60) communicates between the discharge conduit (53) and atmopshere, and a lever (150) actuates the valve (55) in response to vertical movement of the float assembly (110). The lever (150) is connected to the float assembly (110) by an adjusting means (136, 144) that permits fine adjustment in the vertical height of the float assembly (110).

Ball cock and float assembly

The present invention is directed to a hydraulically balanced ballcock (10). A unique valve element (60) is translationally slidable within a valve housing (22) provided in the body (11) of the ballcock (10). A washer (74) received on the head (70) of the piston (61) in the valve element (60) moves in and out of engagement with a valve seat (85) presented from the valve housing (22) to effect closure and opening of the ballcock (10). A bore (95) extends through the piston (61) and stem portion (62) of the valve element (60) to communicate with a control chamber (125). Radial orifices (98 to 101) through a nozzle (73) that extends forwardly of the piston head (70) and through the washer (74) are located to communicate the pressure resulting from the venturi effect of fluid flow between the washer (74) and the seat (85) to the control chamber (125) by virtue of the bore (95). A metering pin (120) effects a time delay in the transmission of pressure to the control chamber (125) through bore (95), and the axial orifice (96) in nozzle (73) regulates the degree of the pressure differential. Passageways (75) vent the rear of the washer (74) to retain it in situ without a mechanical means. A support ring (111) is rotatably received on the valve housing (22) to permit tightening of the end cap (114) onto the housing (22) without deleterious effect on a rolling diaphragm (104) secured thereby, and the float (31) and counter weight (26) are uniquely adjustable and are operably connected to the valve element (60) by a relatively short lever (40).

Hydraulically balanced valve mechanism

The present invention is directed to a hydraulically balanced ballcock (10). A unique valve element (60) is translationally slidable within a valve housing (22) provided in the body (11) of the ballcock (10). A washer (74) received on the head (70) of the piston (61) in the valve element (60) moves in and out of engagement with a valve seat (85) presented from the valve housing (22) to effect closure and opening of the ballcock (10). A bore (95) extends through the piston (61) and stem portion (62) of the valve element (60) to communicate with a control chamber (125). Radial orifices (98 to 101) through a nozzle (73) that extends forwardly of the piston head (70) and through the washer (74) are located to communicate the pressure resulting from the venturi effect of fluid flow between the washer (74) and the seat (85) to the control chamber (15) by virtue of the bore (95). A metering pin (120) effects a time delay in the transmission of pressure to the control chamber (125) through bore (95), and the axial orifice (96) in nozzle (73) regulates the degree of the pressure differential. Passageways (75) vent the rear of the washer (74) to retain it in situ without a mechanical means.
