The current invention provides a novel downhole maleic acid solution suitable for restoring fluid permeability to subterranean formations that were previously treated with chemical fluid loss control agents based on hydroxyethyl cellulose polymer. The current invention also provides methods for restoring fluid permeability to subterranean formations that have been treated with chemical fluid loss control agents based on hydroxyethyl cellulose polymer. The methods of the current invention contact the subterranean formation with downhole maleic acid solutions for a period of time sufficient to restore fluid permeability to the formation.

The treating fluid concentrates are basically comprised of water and a substantially fully hydrated depolymerized polymer. The treating fluids which are formed by adding water to the treating fluid concentrates are basically comprised of water, a substantially fully hydrated depolymerized polymer and a crosslinking agent for crosslinking the hydrated depolymerized polymer.

The method includes the steps of providing a fluid suspension including a mixture of a particulate, a tackifying compound and a hardenable resin, pumping the suspension into a subterranean formation and depositing the mixture within the formation whereby the tackifying compound retards movement of at least a portion of the particulate within the formation upon flow of fluids from the subterranean formation and said hardenable resin subsequently consolidates at least a portion of said particulate within said formation.

Improved methods of placing a gravel pack in a wellbore and in one or more perforations extending from the wellbore into a producing zone are provided. The methods basically comprise the steps of placing a screen in the wellbore adjacent the perforations, and then injecting a low viscosity carrier liquid having a particulate solid pack material suspended therein into the space between the screen and the walls of the wellbore containing the perforations. The pack material has a specific gravity substantially the same as the specific gravity of the carrier liquid whereby a low viscosity carrier liquid can be utilized and the carrier liquid-pack material suspension contains a high loading of pack material.

The present invention relates to a method of hydraulically fracturing a first zone with a first fluid and an adjacent second zone with a second fluid which preferably is chemically reactive with the first fluid to produce a precipitate or gel upon contact therewith.
