A chain brace for restricting relative movement between first, second, and third serially connected links of a chain. The chain brace can include a wedge block defining a bore at least partially therethrough, first and second outer blocks, a capture frame that can include a reaction plate that can define a bore therethrough, and a tension member. The capture frame can be configured to position the outer blocks and the wedge block within the second link of the chain. The tension member can be positioned through the bore defined by the reaction plate and into the bore defined by the wedge block to apply a force on the wedge block such that the wedge block displaces the first and second outer blocks into contact with the ends of the first and third links of chain, respectively, to restrict relative movement between the first, second, and third links of the chain.

Chain braces and processes for using same

A chain support, hinged on two perpendicular axes to allow chain movement in two perpendicular planes is disclosed. The apparatus provides an improved arrangement to allow chain to be pulled at an angle above the chain support while maintaining straight pull across a stopper mechanism.

Dual axis chain support with chain guide

An arrangement for measuring tension in mooring chainsconnected to a floating structure. The arrangement includes a chain stopperhaving a first portionand a second portion. The first portionhas a first load bearing surfaceand the second portionhas a second load bearing surface. The arrangement further includes at least one pinarranged and designed for measuring shear loads and laterally traversing the chain stopperbetween the first and second load bearing surfaces, whereby, upon application of a load to the chainstopper assembly, the at least one pinis positioned in the load path.

Load monitoring arrangement for chain support

A turret mooring system for a vessel which includes a moon pool comprises a turret which is positioned in the moon pool, a buoy and anchor chain assembly for anchoring the turret to the sea floor, a bearing assembly for rotatably connecting the turret to the vessel, and a bearing support assembly which comprises an upper ring member to which the bearing assembly is connected, a lower ring member which is connected to the vessel in the moon pool, and a number of elongated support beams which are connected between the upper and lower ring members. In addition, the lower ring member is connected to the vessel near the vertical center of the vessel in order to minimize the deflections of the bearing assembly due to hogging and sagging of the vessel.
