The present disclosure is directed towards systems and methods for assisting with legal research and for aiding in the discovery of information and documents relevant to a user's research focus or input text. The inventive systems receive identifications of relevant documents explicitly or implicitly from a user's research session or input text and, based on issues relevant to those documents, texts and other connections to those documents and texts, recommends similar or helpful documents to the user for their consideration. Recommendations may be ranked and filtered.

Legal research recommendation system

A method of detecting events in and clustering social media postings for display on a user system may include retrieving, via an application programming interface (API) of a social media system over at least one first communication network, at least one posting of the social media system; determining whether the at least one posting has content referring to a predetermined time period; upon determining that the at least one posting has content referring to the predetermined time period, determining whether the at least one posting corresponds to an existing cluster of postings related to an event; upon determining that the at least one posting corresponds to the existing cluster of postings relating to the event, storing, in at least one database on a non-transistory machine-readable storage medium, the existing cluster of postings modified to include the at least one posting; and providing, via at least one second communication network, a representation of the modified existing cluster of postings for display on a user system.

Systems and methods for event detection and clustering

Systems and techniques for detecting and verifying social media events are disclosed. The system and techniques allow for processing of social media data to extract potentially valuable information in a timely manner and determine the veracity of the detected information. One implementation of the disclosure relates to event detection. Event detection involves ingestion and processing of social media data. Another implementation of the disclosure relates to verification of a detected event and generating a verification score.
