This application provides a high dynamic range HDR video processing method, an encoding device, and a decoding device. The method includes: obtaining dynamic metadata of an NHDR video frame according to a dynamic metadata generation algorithm; calculating a tone-mapping (tone-mapping) curve parameter of the NHDR video frame based on the dynamic metadata of the NHDR video frame; generating a tone-mapping curve based on the curve parameter; determining, according to a quality assessment algorithm, distortion D' caused by the tone-mapping curve; comparing D′ and D, to determine a mode used by the NHDR video frame, where the mode is an automatic mode or a director mode, and Dis a threshold value; and determining metadata of the NHDR video frame based on the determined mode used by the NHDR video frame.

High dynamic range HDR video processing method, encoding device, and decoding device

The present disclosure relates generally to the field of video processing, and more particularly to high dynamic range (HDR) video and image processing. In particular, the present disclosure relates to determining one or more curve parameters of a tone mapping curve. For example, a device (encoder or decoder) may obtain a high dynamic range (HDR) video frame and metadata associated to the HDR video frame. The device further obtains a pair of anchor points, based on the HDR video frame and the metadata. The pair of anchor points comprises a first anchor point and a second anchor point of the tone mapping curve. Moreover, the device generates the one or more curve parameters of the tone mapping curve based on the pair of anchor points.

Encoder, decoder, system, and method for determining tone mapping curve parameters

This application provides a dynamic range mapping method and apparatus. The dynamic range mapping method includes: obtaining a display parameter of a terminal device; obtaining feature information of image data; obtaining a first parameter of a first tone mapping curve of the image data; when a preset condition is met, obtaining a second parameter of a second tone mapping curve based on the first parameter, the display parameter of the terminal device, and the feature information of the image data, where output luminance at a first point on the second tone mapping curve is not greater than input luminance at the first point on the second tone mapping curve; and performing dynamic range mapping on the image data based on the second parameter of the second tone mapping curve.

Dynamic range mapping method and apparatus

A mapping curve parameter obtaining method and apparatus are described. The method includes obtaining a first mapping curve parameter set and first maximum target system display luminance, and obtaining a display luminance parameter set, where the display luminance parameter set includes maximum display luminance and/or minimum display luminance of a display device. The method also includes obtaining an adjustment coefficient set, where the adjustment coefficient set includes one or more adjustment coefficients, and the one or more adjustment coefficients correspond to one or more parameters in the first mapping curve parameter set. This application provides an image processing method, including: adaptively determining at least one interpolation point based on feature information or dynamic metadata of a to-be-processed image, and determining the at least one interpolation point and a modified spline curve that passes through the at least one interpolation point, where the modified spline curve includes at least one of a linear spline curve or a cubic spline curve; and performing tone mapping on the to-be-processed image based on a modified tone mapping curve, where the modified tone mapping curve includes at least a part of an initial tone mapping curve and the modified spline curve.
