A method, a system and a computer programmable product have been provided for arbitrating bus cycles among a plurality of device nodes. Requests for bus grant are received from the device nodes. Each request includes values of one or more arbitration parameters. The requests grouped at a first stage, with two requests in each group. A comparison is performed in each group, based on the values of the one or more parameters. Further, winners from each comparison are forwarded to a next stage. Subsequently, comparisons are performed over one or more stages to select a winner of the bus grant.

Method and system for n dimension arbitration algorithm&#x2014;scalable to any number of end points

A method is described that associates a first plurality of logical ports with a first bandwidth group and that associates a second plurality of ports with a second bandwidth group. The first bandwidth group is defined by a first bandwidth range whose lowest data rate is greater than a highest data rate of a second bandwidth range that defines the second bandwidth group. The method also involves servicing the first and second bandwidth groups so that: 1) each of the logical ports that are associated with the first bandwidth group are polled at a rate of X servicing trips of the first and second bandwidth groups; and, 2) each of the logical ports that are associated with the second bandwidth group are polled at a rate of Y servicing trips of the first and second bandwidth groups and where X is less than Y.

Polling scheme for controlling traffic through a networking system

A system and method for writing the same data field to multiple RAM copies during a single write cycle that fans out write data, address data, and control data to multiple RAMs. The multiple copies of data held at the same address in the multiple RAM copies are also read during a single write cycle and the data from each RAM copy is concatenated into a single word that is read during a single read cycle.
