A double sided-double heat exchanger core includes a plurality of sets of fluid passageways separated by a plurality of &ldquo;S&rdquo; shaped thermally conductive walls. Each set includes a plurality of fluid passageways. Each thermally conductive wall is configured to separate fluid flow between adjacent sets and configured to separate fluid flow between fluid passageways of one of the adjacent sets. The heat exchanger core is configured to provide segregated fluid flow between adjacent sets of fluid passageways. This heat exchanger core is particularly applicable for cooling equipment cabinets, wherein the air used to cool the equipment is recirculated through a plurality of sets and ambient air flows through interlaced sets to cool the recirculated air.

Double sided heat exchanger core

An equipment enclosure ( ) includes an interior cavity ( ) housing a plurality of equipment compartments ( ) configured to form vertical stacks, and a lower compartment ( ) for housing batteries and/or other equipment. Airflow through the lower compartment ( ) is isolated from airflow within the interior cavity ( ). Heat exchangers ( ) are included for cooling internal air circulating air within the equipment enclosure ( ) with external ambient air. Each heat exchanger ( ) draws external ambient air indirectly through the lower compartment ( ) and directly from the external environment, and exhausts the air back to the external environment. The external ambient airflow through each heat exchangers ( ) is used to cool internal air circulating within the enclosure ( ). The cooled internal air is provided through an opening ( ) positioned proximate the bottom of the interior cavity ( ). Air baffles ( ) are positioned between each pair of vertically adjacent equipment compartments ( ) to prevent internal air from flowing vertically through vertically adjacent equipment compartments ( ).

Equipment enclosure with heat exchanger

Cabinet mounting structure where the rear of the cabinet is inaccessible. The structure includes anchors mounted to the rear of the cabinet. A base plate having receptacles secured thereon is installed on a supporting surface. The receptacles are formed with cavities into which the anchors are inserted, thereby holding down the rear of the cabinet. The front of the cabinet is secured to the supporting surface by mounting bolts extending through the cabinet floor.

Cabinet mounting structure

An outdoor battery cabinet is formed to include a cooling system to extend the life of the housed batteries. The cooling system comprises a ventilation system including an air intake unit, an exhaust unit and a thermostat control. The interior surface of the cabinet is covered with a layer of insulative material. The ventilation system is configured to turn 'on' when the outdoor temperature drops below the interior cabinet temperature, thereby cooling the housed batteries. Once the outdoor temperature rises above the cabinet temperature, the ventilation system is turned 'off' and the insulation in the cabinet functions to maintain the cooler ambient temperature within the cabinet. To minimize the effects of wind forcing air through the ventilation openings, the intake and exhaust louvers are located on the same side of the cabinet.

Cooling system for stand-alone battery cabinets

For cooling cabinets housing electrical equipment, fans are used for pulling internal air upwardly through the electronic equipment into a common space beneath the roof of the cabinet. Baffles within the space distribute the heated air in desired patterns across the inside roof surface and to ducts mounted on interior surfaces of external vertical walls of the cabinet for cooling the air by heat exchange through the roof surface and the vertical cabinet walls. In a second arrangement, an attic-like structure having a thermally insulated roof is mounted on the cabinet roof. External air is blown through the attic-like structure and across the cabinet roof for enhanced cooling of cabinet-heated air beneath the cabinet roof.
