This disclosure involves verifying that a power network model corresponds to an electric power network providing electrical power in a geographical area. For instance, a validation device computes a validation score for a power network model based on a connectivity score, an asset score, and a power-flow score. The connectivity score indicates connectivity errors in the power network model as compared to the power network. The asset score indicates power-delivery errors in the power network model with respect to power-consuming assets serviced by the power network. The power-flow score indicates power-flow calculation errors in the power network model with respect to voltage ranges for the power network. The validation score is repeatedly computed for iteratively updated versions of the power network model until a threshold validation score is obtained. The validated power network model is provided to a control system for identifying and correcting errors in the power network.

Validating power network models for monitoring and correcting operation of electric power networks

A method of displaying a representation of a power distribution network and a representation of a parameter of the power distribution network on a display device includes displaying the representation of a power distribution network on the display device as an expandable tree structure in a first region, the expandable tree structure having branches that can be expanded and collapsed; displaying the representation of the parameter on the display device during a time period that the representation of the power distribution network is displayed; and collapsing or expanding a portion of the representation of the parameter when a branch is expanded or collapsed.

System and method for providing visualization of a parameter on multiple branches of a distribution network

Significant changes in monitored and reported operational parameters and/or power outage events occurring in a utility's electrical power transmission/distribution grid are correlated with historical, current and/or forecast weather events based on potential root cause, geographic and temporal constraints. Operational event and outage information is collected and time-stamped using a communication network of devices and sources that monitor and report, among other things, equipment parameters, electric power availability and outages. A computer-implemented root cause analysis engine (RCA) operatively associated with a computer-implemented weather data correlation engine sorts and analyzes operational parameter/event information and identifies probable correlations to localized weather phenomenon. Operational parameters/events are then displayed using a graphic display device in a manner that enables user controllable and configurable viewing of a time-lapse evolution of weather phenomenon overlayed with graphics representing both weather-related and other relevant operational parameters/events depicted in relation to the utility's physical infrastructure.

A system includes a utility analytics system. The utility analytics system includes a non-technical utility loss system configured to derive a probability of at least one utility non-technical loss, an unbilled utility system configured to calculate an expected unbilled utility service for a customer based on customer attributes and the probability of the at least one utility non-technical loss, and a revenue recoverability system configured to calculate an expected recoverable revenue based on probability of revenue recovery and of the expected unbilled utility service.
