A crystalline non-reinforced thermoplastic polyurethane composition having a high flexural modulus comprises 5% to 25% of a hydroxyl-functional polyol intermediate having a weight average molecular weight of 250 to 3000 and 75% to 95% hard segment comprising an unbranched, unsubstituted, linear chain diol and an aromatic isocyanate.

Crystalline high modulus thermoplastic polyurethane

The present invention relates to an electrostatic dissipative thermoplastic polyurethane composition made by reacting (a) at least one polyester polyol intermediate with (b) at least one diisocyanate and (c) at least one chain extender. The polyester polyol intermediate, may be derived from at least one dialkylene glycol and at least one dicarboxylic acid, or an ester or anhydride thereof. The invention further provides for methods of making said thermoplastic polyurethane composition, polymer blends containing said thermoplastic and polymer articles made from said thermoplastic.

Electrostatic dissipative polyester TPU and compositions thereof

The present invention relates to flame retardant thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) compositions that are prepared by compounding certain TPU's and with a polyphosphonate homopolymer or copolymer, and more specifically TPU compositions that pass ASTM E84 Class 1 and UL94 V0 ratings. The invention also relates to compositions that further include an inherently dissipative polymer to provide a TPU composition that has flame retardant properties, electrostatic discharge performance, good clarity and/or transparency, or any combination thereof.

Flame retardant thermoplastic polyurethane compositions

The present invention relates to electrostatic dissipative polycarbonate compositions that are prepared by combining an aromatic polycarbonate polymer with a thermoplastic polyurethane based inherently dissipative polymer and a compatibilizer component that comprises a second thermoplastic polyurethane. This second thermoplastic polyurethane is a reaction product of (a) at least one polyol intermediate, (b) at least one diisocyanate, and (c) at least one chain extender, wherein (a), the polyol intermediate comprises a polycaprolactone polyol, a polycarbonate polyol, or combinations thereof.

Electrostatic dissipative polycarbonate compositions

The present invention relates to novel thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) compositions that have crystalline chain ends. The TPU compositions of the invention can provide improved resiliency, lower surface free energy, and/or reduced stickiness, while maintaining other desirable physical properties. The present invention also provides the described TPU compositions that are further grafted with vinyl alkoxysilane moieties allowing for crosslinked networks of the TPU compositions. The present invention also provides plasticizer-free, very soft TPU compositions without the processing difficulties often associated with such materials. The invention further provides means of reducing the surface tension of a TPU composition which can allow for improved blend compositions, and means of crosslinking the described TPU compositions.

Thermoplastic polyurethanes with crystalline chain ends

The invention relates to an electrode binder composition, an electrode made using the described binder composition, and an electrochemical cell made using the described electrode, where the all of these materials are made using a composition of a poly(dialkylene ester) thermoplastic polyurethane composition. The electrode is made using the described thermoplastic polyurethane and an electrode active material. The electrochemical cells can be made using the described electrodes and also using (i) membranes and/or separators made using the described poly(dialkylene ester) thermoplastic polyurethane composition; (ii) an electrolyte system based on the described poly(dialkylene ester) thermoplastic polyurethane composition; or (iii) a combination thereof.

Polyurethane-based electrode binder compositions and electrodes thereof for electrochemical cells

A flexibly multilayer composite comprising at least one barrier layer of high hardness TPU having a Shore D hardness of at least 80, a soft segment content of less than 5%, and a low gasoline vapor transmission rate of less than 1 g/M/day. The composite also has at least one layer of soft TPU static dissipative polymer having a surface resistivity of less than 1.0&#xd7;10ohms/square a Shore durometer of form 60 A to 60 D, and a gum residue of less than 20 mg per 100 ml of gasoline after 1 week exposure. The composite may have an optional third layer of an abrasion resistant TPU. The abrasion resistant TPU layer may contain reinforcement material, such as fabric.

Electrostatic dissipative TPU and compositions thereof

A rubber composition with disperse phase particles containing poly(phenylene ether) can be formed by a method that includes melt blending an uncured rubber with a poly(phenylene ether) composition containing a poly(phenylene ether) and an oil to form an uncured rubber composition, then curing the uncured rubber composition. Before being blended with the rubber, the poly(phenylene ether) composition exhibits a glass transition temperature of about 40 to about 140&#xb0; C., and during blending with the rubber, the oil component of poly(phenylene ether) composition migrates from the poly(phenylene ether) composition to the rubber, leaving a poly(phenylene ether)-containing disperse phase that gives rise to a second hysteresis peak temperature of about 160 to about 220&#xb0; C. as measured by dynamic mechanical analysis of the cured rubber composition. Also described are the poly(phenylene ether) composition used in the method, a cured rubber composition formed by the method, and a tire containing the cured rubber composition.

Rubber composition, method for its formation, and automotive tire containing the composition

A varnish composition for producing an electrically insulative thermoset coating is disclosed. The varnish composition includes a functionalized poly(phenylene ether) having at least one aliphatic unsaturated group and exhibiting an intrinsic viscosity in the range of about 0.06 to about 0.25 deciliter per gram, measured in chloroform at 25&#xb0; C. The varnish composition further includes an unsaturated polyester resin or vinyl ester resin, a reactive liquid monomer, and a compatibilizing agent. When cured, the polymers and reactive liquid monomer form an electrically insulative thermoset.

Varnish compositions for electrical insulation and method of using the same

A varnish composition for producing an electrically insulative thermoset coating is disclosed. The varnish composition comprises a functionalized poly(phenylene ether), an unsaturated polyester, and/or a vinylester resin. The varnish composition further comprises a reactive liquid monomer and a block copolymer comprising a poly(olefin) block, or a poly(diolefin) block, and at least one terminal poly(alkenyl aromatic) block comprising repeat units derived from an alkenyl aromatic monomer. When cured, the polymers and reactive liquid monomer forms an electrically insulative thermoset that provides superior crack resistance.

A process for preparing a redistributed poly(phenylene ether), comprising reacting a poly(phenylene ether) in a reactive diluent monomer with a polyhydric phenol in the presence of a redistribution catalyst to form a composition comprising a redistributed poly(phenylene ether) in the reactive monomer diluent. The redistributed poly(phenylene ether) exhibits an intrinsic viscosity in the range of about 0.06 deciliters per gram to about 0.25 deciliters per gram, measured in chloroform at 25&#xb0; C. The redistributed poly(phenylene ether) can be functionalized and admixed with unsaturated resin such as an unsaturated polyester resin or vinyl ester resin to obtain a varnish composition that, when cured, can form an electrically insulative thermoset.
